Today's team

Same old story then.

Ole played better than Ruud the other night ffs. And that's not bias, it's fact.

with Butt in so were playing that sad 4-4-1-1 again? With Veron or Giggs behind Ruud? OhOh

not happy. 4-5-1 at OT? or Giggs up front. probably an attempt at a combination of the two, and a balls up on both fronts.

hey Red Tribe - how you enjoy Rotterdam? am exiled in Amsterdam meself, not under the patio as might be thought.

The OT doormat. Can anyone with any pride be that laid back??? Show some respect for yourself Ole and ask for a move. Constantly being the one sacrificed when you haven't actually deserved it can't do much for your self-confidence.

I must say I'm surprised by this. Seems like Fergie is bottling the 'midfield debate'.

I think he expects WBA to play ultra defensive.. this could explain why Ole's left out and why Giggs may partner RVN.

Regardless of who plays, I prefer to see a full attacking formation at home.

As a Liverpool fan, I think Solskjaer is a great player and a predator in the box, his only problem is his profile.

He cost peanuts, from an unknown club and plays for a country that doesnt get that much recognition. However, if you reverse all that then he would get rave reviews (not that he doesnt) and wouldnt be left out.

He scores all the time, his attitude is spot on and his desire for the game is fantastic, I was really impressed when I found out that on the bench he analises everything so he can make an impact when he comes - it p!sse$ me off to see players showing no interest in the game. On fan on Koptalk said he was at the Galatasaray game at Anfield and was sitting close to a few players, Dudek, Redknapp, Diomede I think and someone else. He said Dudek was on the edge of his seat, jumping up and down and shouting and was really agitated whilst the rest were laughing and joking and only showed a passing interest in the game.

B8LL8X , just checked the BBC website and the little fvcker has scored

End of post now, swine :(

After today's labouring efforts on goal and the fact that we got so much better in attacking ideas and effort after we switched to 4-4-2, I hope it's the end of that disjointed 4-5-1 tactic.

It just doesn't work.

I don't entirely agree.

This team needs variations on 4-4-2, especially against the better teams.

The players need to knuckle down and support the manager in the development and execution of those tactics. You expect players of this quality to have more than one string to their bow and some of them need to take a hard look at themselves.

Better still, take a hard look at Ole if they want an example of the right attitude.

However, why would you do anything other than go for the jugular when newly promoted WBA come to your ground. We are Manchester Feckin' Utd, f'chrissakes.

It isn't just the formation that's wrong with 4-5-1.

It's the persistence in always using Ruud as the lone striker - no wonder he was tired by the end of last season.

Fergie made a big thing about the fact that Ruud was coming back from a long lay-off, and then made sure he was exhausted by the time 3/4 of the season had gone.
