FOOTBALL: HOTLINE: SIR ALEX SWEARS BY TIM

TIM HOWARD has joined Manchester United in a £1.5m deal with American Major League Soccer side New York MetroStars.

The 24-year-old goalie, who suffers from Tourette's Syndrome, is all set to make his debut on United's tour of the States next month, having agreed terms with United chief executive Peter Kenyon.

The deal was concluded when MLS Commissioner Ivan Gazidis flew in for the Champions League final.

It is believed Howard, who will sign a four-year deal, will pick up around £14,000 a week.

Although Howard suffers from Tourette's, a condition that causes victims to make involuntary verbal outbursts - including swearing in some cases - his performances for the MetroStars and the American national side have convinced Sir Alex Ferguson it will not affect his keeping ability or communication with team-mates.

jKEVIN KEEGAN has looked at four keepers, including David Seaman and David James, to replace Peter Schmeichel at Manchester City.

But he is set to settle for disgraced Aussie Mark Bosnich.

FOOTBALL: FERGIE AND MISSUS TO SORT KEWELL

HARRY Kewell's future will be decided by his wife and Sir Alex Ferguson.

The Leeds star has FOUR options ... Barcelona, Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool.

But wife Sheree does not want to leave the country because of her TV career, while the United boss must guarantee Kewell a regular starting slot if he is to land the Aussie.

The imminent capture of Djibril Cisse is a signal Liverpool have accepted defeat, which leaves Arsenal in a strong position.

But Ferguson would be loathe to allow Arsenal to snap up another match-winner and knows he has the financial muscle to blow the Gunners out of the water.

And that means Old Trafford is still the most likely destination, especially with Italian sources still claiming Ryan Giggs is heading for AC Milan.

If boss Arsene Wenger misses out, he will have the consolation of keeping Dennis Bergkamp, who is close to signing a new deal.

That, say Arsenal, is why he does not appear on a list of 122 Premier League players who become free agents today.

And David Seaman's name is also absent - a clear hint the veteran keeper will stay.

But FA Cup Final hero Oleg Luzhny is being freed.

FOOTBALL: UTD WILL LISTEN TO BECKS DEALS

MANCHESTER United ARE ready to accept offers on David Beckham, I can reveal.

For the first time, a leading Old Trafford source has confirmed that Beckham could go this summer if the club receive an offer of more than £30m.

Despite stories to the contrary last night, there has been NO offer for Beckham, who has been linked most recently with AC Milan and Barcelona.

Chief Executive Peter Kenyon, currently in Monaco for the Grand Prix as a guest of United's sponsors Vodafone, has again distanced himself from the speculation.

United are aware that Beckham's name is being used in Barcelona's presidential elections.

Favourite Joan Laporta reckons he can deliver Becks AND Thierry Henry if he is voted in.

Laporta is tipped to win the first stage today and then romp to success in a fortnight's time.

However, his publicity-seeking move to land Beckham must still overcome a number of snags.

For instance, Laporta's camp claim to have an agreement with United until June 30 on a £20m fee. That is DENIED at United.

And the wages on offer for Beckham are £50,000-a-week, which is less than he earns at United.

The Barca elections have caused big interest here, as many candidates have their sights on our bosses or players.

Second favourite Luis Bassat wants Pep Guardiola as his player-coach, but includes West Ham and England keeper David James as a target.

Newcomer Jordi Medina wants Harry Kewell to move from Leeds and Jaap Stam from Lazio.

Outsider Josep Martinez-Ravira crazily claims to have goal-king Ruud van Nistelrooy lined up.

1. Great news on Tim

2. If we get Kewell do you think Sir Alex we'll still further his interest on Ronaldinho?
3. If beckham go, then our team we'll be:

Barthez/Tim

O'shea/Gar --- Brown/New? --- Rio --- Silvestre

Bugs/Baby---Scholes/Veron----Keane---Giggs/Kewell

----------- Kewell/giggs/scholes/baby/Bugs--------

------------------------Nistelrooy/Baby-----------

But i'll hate it to see Becks go :( (He's a true Red)

Who is Baby & who is Bugs?

Difficult for us lesser beings to ascertain who these players are if their nicknames aren't familiar. :(

It'll give Bosnich a second chance to prove that he can't succeed Schmikes & link up with another fat coke-head Robbie Fowler

Laportas deadline is 15th June and its a pre-agreement with United for 30 million.

But its just that, Beckham hasnt agreed anything.
