Apologies in advance but this may end up just as a bunch of incoherent ranting (why change my natural habit?) but I felt the need to highlight some issues.

Between the drubbings at City and Liverpool, not including the mid-season WC, we played 33 games in 134 days in all competitions, at an average of a game per 4.2 days. In this time we
- Won 25
- Drew 5
- Lost 3

This whilst playing with a team without a recognised striker!

Yes we then hit the bad spell where; losing Casemiro to his two sets of suspensions & Eriksen for two months, we lost momentum and the style of play that had seen us get to a comfortable 3rd place, with talk of a 'Treble of Cups' and even some getting carried away with talk about a possible title tilt. Anyone who's making threads about how ETH needs to go needs to go back and find some of the match videos to show not just the results, but the style of play we were managing, and then look back at what we'd been playing for the last two seasons! It's like chalk and cheese!

Secondly, we also see people whinging about ETH and his selection policy, when Player X is in then it should have been Player Y, or when Player Y plays 'they shouldn't ever wear the shirt again!' so I felt the need for a bit of a vent / flow chart to navigate responses.

Goalkeeper:
Biggest Issue:
DDG is shit on the ball (I canot argue this, it's completely indisputable)
When he plays: 'God he's so awful! Why doesn't ETH have the balls to play Butland?!?'
If ETH plays Butland:
- Butland plays OK:
'Yeah he was OK, but we can't rely on a GK as inconsistent as he is!'
- Butland lets in a goal: 'We told you he was shit! What's ETH doing picking him over DDG?!?'

Defence:
Biggest Issue:
Forgetting we have no quality CB or FB cover, and our twobest CBs are injured
Complaint #1: 'Shaw at CB?!?! Has ETH lost his mind! He's never good enough to be consistently a CB!'
- Alternative: ETH picks Maguire: 'WHAT THE feck is he doing picking Slabhead!!! He's lost his mind!'
Complaint #2: Forgetting that our best LB is playing at CB: 'What is ETH doing playing Dalot / Malacia from the start at LB? They're useless, he should put Shaw back there!'

Midfield:
Biggest Issue:
Forgetting we only have McFred behind Casemiro & Eriksen as our midfield options
When Eriksen starts: Yeah he's great at picking a pass out but he's nowhere near physical enough to be a CM!
When ETH plays McT / Fred instead of Eriksen: 'Is ETH mad!?! He shouldn't give them ANY game-time! What's he doing not picking Eriksen?!?'

Attack:
Biggest Issue:
Forgetting the Ronaldo situation / the fact ETH wanted a front 3 of Rashford - Martial - Antony, which is why we spent what we did on Antony
2nd Biggest Issue: Elanga & Pellestri are our squad options when Garnacho was out injured
Complaint #1: Rashford starts LW, Martial starts as ST - 'What is he doing?!? Playing Martial at ST! He's useless, worse than useless! We need someone who works hard as ST to make CBs lives difficult!'
ETH Plays Weghorst as ST: 'What is he doing?!? Playing Weghorst at ST! He's useless, worse than useless! Sure, he runs around a lot and works hard but he offers NOTHING!'
Complaint #2: Rashford starts as ST - 'What is he doing?!?! Everyone knows Rashford isn't a ST!!! Now we have to deal with Sancho (replace with any of the wingers) at LW and he is doing nothing!'

Subs:
Biggest Issue:
Our squad depth is appalling
Situation: We have Maguire, Williams, Fred, Sabitzer, Martial / Weghorst on the bench
Complaint #1: 'WHY ISN'T ETH BRINGING ANYONE ON?!?!?! Can't he see we need someone to come on and change the game!?!?!'
Complaint #2: 'WHAT THE feck IS HE DOING BRINGING X, Y or Z on?!?! Can't he see how useless they've been in previous games!?!'

Anyway, that was quite cathartic getting that out, even if it leads to this being deleted in about 20mins!

Absolutely brilliant post and spot on.

This is why most posters don’t want the fans anywhere near the ownership of the club.

Or perhaps these views represent different people with different opinions? This place isn't a hive mind.

The worst thing is that I could probably name a couple of posters who have written all those comments.

ps. Agree with more or less everything in the op, some very good and valid points.

Agree. And does actually make me think back as to how well we were going. But unfortunately I feel as if this whole season has now been ruined because of the obvious drop off after the CC final.

When thinking about it we have actually done really well this year. Performances were good which is exactly what I wanted to see, results were there too. But I feel as if we've ruined it all with ETH refusal to rest where he could, and our wafer thin squad in certain areas.

I hope for a good summer, the right players brought in and it not all to be about what money is available if the Glazers are still allegedly trying to sell

Necessary post OP

I just don't think some of our fans actually like of enjoy football at all.

They're so angry and miserable all the time. Always looking for the negatives.

Football isn't made to be enjoyed it's made to be perfected

I bet "enjoy" food too pleb

I think his big mistake was not prioritising games. He has more or less played the strongest available team in every game leading to injuries and tiredness. In my opinion we should have literally played the kids in the Europa League. You have to play 15 games to win it for heaven's sake... Nearly half a league campaign! And if we manage to qualify for the Champions League next season we should play the kids in the 2 domestic cups. It is too much to ask 16 or 17 players to play twice a week for 9 months and it is now biting him on the backside.

Think I got the gist of it. Basically, Ten Hag took over a dysfunctional squad with many shortcomings that were never going to be fixed in one window (January was a write off due to the Glazers) - it is a multi year project.

With his first window he has actually done very well:

Martinez - one of our best players this season, unlucky that he got injured at a crucial time
Casemiro - one of our best players this season
Eriksen - been very good, was free, unlucky with a fairly long injury absence
Malacia - decent young up and coming option and cheap
Antony - the one who the jury is really still out on, certainly we overpaid but we look better with him than without him

Ten Hag has also done wonders with some of the existing players, improving the likes of Shaw, Wan Bissaka, Dalot, Garnacho and Rashford. Bruno has continued to be great.

It’s a shame that he wasn’t allowed to bring more quality in in January when the squad was crying out for it with the number of games starting to rack up and fatigue building. Sabitzer has been OK in some games and Weghorst is like an oversized enthusiastic Labrador.

But despite the summer additions and the improvements to other players, there are still glaring issues in the team and in the squad in terms of both quality and depth. Plus we’ve been unlucky with injuries.

Despite all this, Ten Hag has won a trophy, is in the final of another and is in the mix for top four going into the last few games. Not a bad start whatever happens now.

Are there actually ETH out people? or are the Redcaf Karen’s confusing people maybe just questioning some decisions and stuff for wanting him out?

I would find it wild if there are actually ETH out people.

At least 147 on this forum want him sacked if we fail to finish in top 4. Look at the posts in this thread. Entitled bunch.

Posts that people actually type out on here are things I might shout in the heat of the moment during a game but when I take two seconds to think about aren’t really rational. It’s mad to me that people keep that anger for a period of time and then come on here to be like “feck this player I hate them”.

Holy crap you’re right there are people that would genuinely want him out if we don’t finish top 4.

Now I’ll agree not getting top 4 would be classed as him not reaching his base requirement and maybe because right now we are playing dross people are possibly forgetting that at times we really showed that there is a team here. But he has showed enough that there should be no one with half a brain thinking he should be booted.

Yep I couldn't believe reading some of the posts in there, it's crazy. They can't seem to accept that this was always going to be a slog to get things back to being steady and then on to being successful again, but alot of those fans have no patience, that's plain to see.

There's also a number of them who clearly never wanted EtH to begin with, the Ole cult, and the Jose cult too, so they will shit on anything he does any time. There's also fans that I think will never be happy, who just love to moan even if things are going really well.

Completely agreed, but will add to DDG: he isn’t a good shot stopper anymore.

The guy has us in 2 finals in his first season with arguably just 1 transfer window with money.

No doubt we have a lot dumb, shortsighted fans.

A lot of Liverpool fans masquerading here too.

I totally agree. A very good point well made.

I was one of the 147 in the other thread. It's not that I want to see him sacked but I have seen bad decision after bad decision in terms of his tactics and squad management and I don't have much faith in him. Reports of De Gea and Weghorst signing new contracts doesn't fill me with much confidence either.

If we don't make top 4 and then play an open game against city with De Gea playing out from the back and Weghorst up front and get badly beaten then I think we should let him go if a suitable replacement is available.

If we sit back like we did with Ole and try to hit them on the counter with pack and get narrowly beaten then I would give him another year to see how he does.

TBH I am struggling to think of injuries being caused by someone playing too many games, tiredness is a factor but not as much as most people think, the 5 subs rule allows for changes to be made some players aren't playing the full match on a frequent basis, there's also another reason ETH doesn't make many changes, he's trying to get us to play as a team, not a bunch of individuals and there's only one way to do that

I'm not ready for him to be sacked, but the silver isn't shining anymore.

A few too many thrashings and dominations by rivals (and outplayed 3/3 in one season against Brighton, whose manager I rate above ours).

ETH outers? There's no one effectively calling for his sack now. Some of us are just not worshipping him nor do we believe he's immune or completely blameless as some of you are making him out to be. Some United fans are obsessed with organizing a cult for United manager rather than treating them as who they are, an employee for the club.

Imagining a narrative and building a thread about it is typical Caf.
