That's less dosh they'll have to spend on new wingers.

That'll be

Owen
Heskey
Diouff
Mellor
Baros
Pongolle
Le Tallec
Smicer (occasional forward)
Cisse

to fit into 2 places next season. Can't see them all being kept very happy.

Cisse is hardly going to arrive and sit on the bench when several other clubs also want him for their 1st teams. So that means Owen and Cisse will be first choice.

He's going to cost 15 million minimum. Virtually their whole budget gone if they fail to make the CL

Plus perhaps another 5- 10 million (at a push) regained from shifting some of their many average squad members.

Does anyone really care that much??

My God, who'd take Heskey off them? Could only be a promoted club at about 4m max. How he has fallen! And why the feck he still plays for England is beyond me.

Indeed. Cisse was the player they were hoping for when they bought Heskey.

Anyway being in negotiations for a player and signing him are not the same. But it does show their interest.

I'd say the idea would be would be a little and large combo; Cisse - Owen. It would be a good partnership, though I like RVN - Cisse beter :D RVN is a smart player, Cisse would learn a lot by playing next to him, and RVN would find more spaces with defences trying to contain Cisse.

No - saw him in a couple of cameo appreances in the WC and against you lot in your European plate competition. Didn't impress - but didn't have much chance to do so either.

In fairness comparing Guivarch and Cisse is a little harsh on young Djbril. Guivarch was more your Laslandes type (remember him - he did really well at Sunderland). There's always a lanky bastard who's shite but does well in France. Tony Cascarino also springs to mind!

feck off. There are many examples of strikers who do better in England than in France, where the defences are tigher, while the English League offers more spaces for strikers than the French League.

Tony Cascarino was a very respected player but he has never been a star like Cisse. Those comparisons have no sense.

As for Guivarch, he came to England with a total lack of confidence after the critics he had received after the World Cup. A World Cup where he had been injured most of the games.

He got the medal, but received critics. He was not good during this World Cup, where he was injured (but after all Henry and Trezeguet have not done better during the last World Cup). But having seen him play for the French League, he was far from being shite. He was not a star but a very good player.

I don't defend everything's French. I don't defend Anelka. At least Guivarch had a good mentality. You judge him on one year -1998- but he was good previously, he scored more than Henry in the French league.

I judge him on what I saw of him...hence I think he was crap

I also think the idea of eating snails is disgusting and reckon that any nation who does so is backwards..
