A friend of mine asked me for some suggestions for the chelsea game. Think he’s arriving earlish in Manchester on the Thursday with his 14 yr old son and was asking for things to do.

I think museum is closed on matchday so only thing I could think of was Trafford centre, walking around old Trafford and gaucho grill. I’ve been going to United games since 1992 so I’m actually a bit embarrassed I don’t have anymore to offer then that!

Was wondering if anybody had any other suggestions ? (Including safe , fun pubs, I don’t drink so actually don’t know any!)

The National Football Museum in the city centre is definitely worth a visit especially if one has never been there.

Any chance they can stay overnight and do the museum and stadium tour the day after? The tour especially was interesting

There's the mega store for when you get to the ground, so leave time for a browse - it does get absolutely rammed

Also a walk round the stadium to see the statues/Munich memorial etc. Allow enough time to do this before going into the stadium to watch the warm up/ get the atmosphere of the build up

Should also try and click some photos with Ratcliffe wearing a half and half scarf !

If you're in Manchester early, go to This and That for a curry. Absolutely insane food for £6.

If you want to go to a safe, fun pub, head to the Peveril of the Peak, the Nags Head (both United pubs) or Britons Protection. All relaxed with a nice atmosphere.

Grey Horse on Portland Street is also nice if a little small. Managed by a United fan and Brian Mcclair is always in there.

I also found myself in a place called NQ64 last week. It's a bar combined with an arcade. Great fun. Definitely worth a visit.
