Fresh links with him, but Liverpool and Arsenal are also watching him. This guy to me is the next German sensation in goal. Only 22, 6'4 and all round good keeper. Could be very good business as he's rated less than 10M

It's such a talented generation of German goalkeepers, but so far no one has really made the step up into the elite. If Trapp or Ter Stegen find some consistency, it's difficult to see Horn surpass them, but Horn, Karius, Leno all have a very high ceiling. It's just the question who has the mentality to actually make it.

I still find it mind-boggling that Dortmund bought Bürki instead of one of them.

Agree about the quality of young German keepers. You have some real stars developing

All the coverage I've read of PsG say Trapp has been consistently excellent.

I was and am scratching my head too but Köln demanded €10m+ for Horn who doesn't necessarily have the skill set BVB was looking for anyway, and Bürki costed a fraction of him (€2.5m).
I don't know if Karius was on BVB's radar but he emphasized in interviews he'd love to return to the EPL.

Really? I've read that he's been a bit inconsistent and had some huge blunders. I only watched him in the CL though and the mistake against Real didn't help to change that. I rate him highly though and would love it if I'm wrong, but one of the PSG fans also wrote yesterday that he's been a bit inconsistent. That being said, it's not really a big deal for a young goalkeeper in his first season in a new league at a top club.

ESPN gave him motm against real so maybe I'm reading the wrong coverage!

He made stupid mistakes but also had some incredible games. The general opinion is that he is really talented but needs to be more focused.

Signed him on FM15 for Everton. Very solid keeper. Will never be the best in the world, but would be a good signing for most teams.

Hopefully De Gea stays but if not then Butland has to be our main choice, I know some don't like British players but we are an English cub and a nucleus is important, so adding a very good and young English keeper who has performed in the PL is a must IMO.

I'd go for one of Trapp or Areola, if de Gea leaves. PSG won't be able to keep both happy long-term.

Horn is currently far away to be ready for a top club.

Trapp is average too (So many mistakes in the league). Just follow most french journalists on Twitter......they are saying that they can't believe he's still ahead of Sirigu and it would be a joke if Areola isn't PSG's number one goalkeeper next season.

And if De Gea leaves in the summer........HELLO GUYS.......we should first try to get Oblak!!!!

Oblak is short. Im not too fond of shorter goalies.

If a German keeper is the key if De Gea leaves, it should be Leno imo.

(a) He played on a high level for some time now (Horn just plays his second season in the first Bundesliga, right?)
(b) Leno, so BILD say, wants to leave Leverkusen and join Red Bull Leipzig. (I am pretty sure that he would prefer United though.)
(c) He played for Germany's U17, 18, 19, 21. Can't be that bad.

(I also like Zieler, but it's hard to judge him these days when Hannover is bad.)

Leno makes sense given he's so experienced despite being still being young and won't cost an absolute fortune (like if we went for Loris).

If we went for a German keeper I'd say Karius, he been very good this season for Mainz and is good on crosses from what I've seen. However if De Gea goes I can't see any reason not to go for Butland, he's quality and would replenish our English core with Carrick, Rooney and Young surely on their last legs at the club.

I'm expecting Karius to end up at Leverkusen as Lenos replacement.

Leno or Ter Stengen (who may be available?) would both be good options.
Im still hoping that the court of arbitration for sport stick to what they said and hold real's appeal before the summer
If the ban remains we might keep De Gea for one more season

Most Bundesliga keepers are quite underwhelming considering the amount of praise they get. Leno and Sommer are imo the two best (excluding Neuer).
Fährmann improved a lot, but he is still not good enough for the highest level. Karius and Horn have both potential but it is way too early to say if they can actually live up to their hype. Zieler never really made the next step. He should have left Hannover years ago and now I am just not sure that he is really all that great. Bürki is quite shaky for Dortmund. Adler is pretty awful for years. He never really got over his injury.

Fährmann has been a better goalkeeper than Leno for 2 years now IMO. His distribution might not be as good as other goalkeepers nowadays, but in terms of preventing goals he's second only to Neuer. Watch him make a mistake against Gladbach now.
