Here is the reply i got from the ticket office regarding the tickets for the Arsenal game.....

"You say that you have been to all games so far this season with the
exception of Blackburn and Spurs and say that the current application
system for obtaining tickets is unfair. You say that this game is the
biggest game of the season so far and you are probably right but at one
stage Liverpool and Bayern Munich were the biggest games of the season so
far and we used the same ticket ordering system for these fixtures. The
same system that gave you tickets for all the other games was the same
system that made you unlucky for the Arsenal game. There will be other
members who have applied for the same games as you and been unlucky - and
yet they may have got tickets for Arsenal.

We appreciate that it can be frustrating when you do not get the tickets
that you want but unfortunately the random ballot is the only way we can be
fair to all of our members. We traditionally use the voucher system for the
last home game of the season and would I imagine we would use it again
should we reach the Champions League final. Add those games to Arsenal and
we would be guaranteeing the same members tickets to the last 3 home games
of the season and that would be unfair to members who perhaps work shifts
and cannot attend the midweek cup games that we use as vouchers.

The vast majority of our games will be oversubscribed and although there are
occasional exceptions, Premier League games tend to be heavily
oversubscribed regardless of who we are playing. The ballot is purely
random and supporters have many theories among themselves as to how we
conduct the ballot. It is thought that we look at postcodes, how many games
attended, do them on a first come first served basis, what areas they are
asking for etc - the list is endless and none of it is true. The truth of
the matter is that we open the ballot, accept all applications and work
randomly though them until we run out of tickets.

I am sorry that you missed out on the Arsenal game but I hope I have gone a
little way to explaining the reasons why we operate as we do."

Best wishes,

Shelly

The fact that i will have tickets from another source for the game just goes to prove how the system sucks, and how loyalty means nothing to the club. I feel sorry for those fans unable to get tickets for this game, even though they have been to the majority of games this season.

Sounds reasonable enough to me...

I can't get to the midweek games due to me working down south, but still attempt to be at every home game in the league...

I think people who can get to every game are simply being unreasonable and selfish if they think the fact they can get to every game means they have a right to a ticket...

Kin thick twats!

So it's a random thing? Some bloke can have seen every game so far but his chances are no greater of seeing the arse game than those of someone who decided on a whim to apply having never seen a game before?

Out of order I'd say!

It doesn't matter to me, cos i can obtain tickets from other sources ;) What wasn't mentioned was those supporters that PICK the games they want to watch, and still get the same opportunity to get tickets for the big games as those fans that go to the games, no matter WHO the opposition is.

There's no solution that will please everybody other than building a 120000 seater stadium.

Actually, thats a good idea!

Why the token scheme then? Why membership? Why not just put all tickets on open sale. I used to love queuing up for hours on a sunday morning just to get a quarter final ticket.

I agree you'll also get the idiots who take advantage but as I explained, for my situation and many others i'd expect, this seems like a more reasonable system...

It's better if a Utd fan from Manchester gets a ticket rather than some cockney who has been to every game...

Can any of you guys help me with 2 tickets for the Charlton Game on May 11th at Old Trafford.

I would not ask normally, but I am in Manchester that weekend as I'm playing in a charity game at Old Trafford the next day.

Seems a shame to have to stand outside knocking on the door..... So near and yet so far.

I'm not expecting any sympathy, but if you know of a way for this one off occasion, I promise not to ask ever again.

Ask Bryan Robson for one to make up for him having broken your leg ;)

Sadly won't be meeting him until 24 hours after the Charlton game has finished.

I might just have to tunnel-in...... can't afford to pay £170 for the hospitality package out of desperation, as it's cost me a £700 quid donation to charity to play in the game.

My girlfriend was not too impressed :D

She just doesn't understand really :p

Did I mention it's my 27th Birthday today? :D

If anyone wants to send me a present, I'd really like 2 tickets to the Charlton game at Old trafford.............. ;)

If we ain't gonna be picking up the premiership trophy at that game, tickets will be easy to get. Touts will be giving them away. ;)

What nonsence

Plenty of reds work down south and still go to night matches, I think you are just looking for excuses.

A person who makes an effort to go to every game SHOULD get priority over those who pick and choose. It's hardly rocket science, just a fair way to reward the fans who bother going to games when it's so much easier not to and sit watching it on the tv.

Why should someone who applies for the Arsenal game only each year, get the same rights to getting a ticket as a red who goes to every game?

send in your voucher sheet same as everyone else.

Has anyone else voiced their displeasure at the ticketing arrangements, or can't you be bothered, and are quite happy at taking your chance when you apply for just the big games? To me, it's a discrace that someone should see every game, just to be told that they can't see the climax, when the trophies are won. Anyone who doesn't care about this situation, is obviously just a glory fan.

Who are the hell are you to judge why I can't make it to midweek games... I'm not going to try and justify myself to someone so bloody thick as you...

Er... Im not asking you to justify yourself.

Though I'm surprised why you should think that someone who bothers to travel for games should not have any more right to tickets than yourself?
