The French club's sporting director Antoine Sibierski has revealed the west London side are considering moving for the 19-year-old after he rejected a recent contract offer

The west London club signed the older Hazard brother this summer for a fee thought to be in the region of £32 million, and have now set their sights on bringing his highly-rated sibling to Stamford Bridge.

The 19-year-old, who like his brother plays in a wide midfield role, has made just 11 appearances for the French outfit since breaking through their youth ranks.

"I've known Thorgan since I arrived at Lens,” Sibierski told La Voix du Nord. “Thorgan is a very good player and I want to keep him. There is a year left on his contract. Last week I met him to discuss an extension for three seasons.

“After this, we are not taking short cuts. We didn't say that we would have to sell Thorgan to make money as soon as he gets into the last year with us. We do not react like that at all! We want to extend it, first.

“I've since learned that Chelsea are interested in his possible arrival. I can understand why a player would want to leave Ligue 2 to go to Chelsea. We're in discussions.

“Now, like in every transfer with a year left on his contract, it must be paid for. There are also compensation fees for training him."

Thorgan Hazard has scored 10 times in 23 appearances for the Belgium Under-19 side.

Heh, Antoine Sibierski is Lens' sporting director these days? Seems like only yesterday he was playing for "old" Man City.

If someone has seen him before, could tell us how good is he and in which position does he play?

I've not seen him play but the Chelsea website says:

At 19 years of age, Thorgan is two years younger than his brother Eden, who joined Chelsea from Lille this summer, but is of similar height and build and plays a similar range of attacking positions.

Thorgan too has been learning his trade at a club in northern France, having moved to Lens as a 14-year-old. He graduated into the senior squad for the 2011/12 season and made his debut as a substitute in the first league match of the season, going on to make 14 league appearances in total.

A Belgian youth international, he represented his nation at Under-16, Under-17, Under-18 and Under-19 level and played at the 2011 European Under-19 Championship.

Both of Thorgan and Eden's parents were footballers, and Thorgan in his early years was at the same club as his brother - Tubize in Belgium.

He will now join our Under-21 squad, managed by Dermot Drummy, to continue his pre-season training and a loan move is being considered to continue his development.

I wonder if Eden knew this was on the cards in advance, it might have helped him towards choosing Chelsea over City and ourselves.

Wouldnt be surprised if Eden asked Chelsea, us and City to sign his brother too. Chelsea were the only ones stupid enough to agree, so Eden chose there. Thorgan doesnt look great from what Ive seen on Youtube, which is odd as it can make anyone look a world beater.

Just a theory...
