Television Tho Prop Grops Throps

The finish to that MJF v Jericho match was pretty dumb. In fact the match was kind of a damb squib after everything that came before it. I think Chris should retire now tbh.

Bucks v Jurrassic Express was an excellent tag team match. Really enjoyed it. Jungle Boy is getting better every week.

Footage of Reddit right now...

Tbh I never watched wrestling when Punk was in his prime and I've never seen the fuss with him either.

In terms of "moving the needle" Hogan and Austin are out there on their own surely albeit The Rock isn't far behind.

Theres no denying punk was an immensely popular wrestler, however chanting cm punk has become less about him and more about sitcking it to wwe/Vince McMahon. It's a meme.

It's the wrestling equivalent of half life 3.

always funny when Shane88 works himself regarding anything to do with aew

Btw dynamite was great, again
Crowd really helped it by being awesome

The opening match was a lot of fun
The tag title match was great
Main event was fun too. Right person won in the end

Decided to start watching Dynamite properly now that crowds are back. Starts off with Moxley, whose vest is too short, an annoying 'you still got it' chant two seconds into a match, Jim Ross still bad as ever and the match ending with 60 year old Sting no selling a table bump before tapping out two guys at once. Not a great start.

This is one of my issues with certain sections of the IWC.

If you saw Goldberg no sell a table spot and going over you'd never hear the end of it. Sting routinely goes over younger talent and not a peep.

Tag me, coward! I know he's working but I love the salt from Reddit.

The main event was shite with one of the stupidest spots you'll see all year. Jericho has no problem hitting MJF with a bat when the ref's back is turned but what, develops a conscience when he's about to use the forbidden Judas Effect, with the refs back still turned?

I edited it twice and still fcked up my post
I love how worked up you get about anything positive outside of WWE, mainly aew.

Are you one of the people who respond to Bryan Alvarez when he puts ratings for raw and says 'another win for the good guy's cos a 30 year show has slightly higher numbers than a 2 year show? :nervous:

Yeah the judas effect spot behind the refs back was poorly executed. Really needed the ref to turn right after the baseball bat hit and then Jericho hesitating to make it work.
The match however was fun.

I'm surprised the matches for rampage aren't... Bigger. Especially if punk is debuting you would think they would have a marquee match or should have saved the sting / darby match for that show? Or something else? Hmmm will see

WWE is shite too.

The rating for tomorrow night doesn't matter. The interesting one is the following Dynamite. That's when you see how many casuals come back after seeing Punk back in a ring over the weekend and few days worth of hype.

It doesn't but if you have people tuning in for punk, ideally you want them to take notice of others who are on the show.

Anyway WWE is shite
Aew isn't

Theres a huge difference in quality of programming, unless you're cornette

Right. I'm taking the plunge. Punk has me hooked.

Can somebody explain to me (somebody who has somehow forged a career working in IT but struggles with basic IT...) the best way to stream Fite to my TV. I was hoping they'd have an app on PlayStation or something but I can't see one.

Couple of my training clips from this week

Wasn't quite clear, but technically didn't you get pinned at the end when you arched up, your shoulders were still on the mat?

I was waiting for you to Hulk up & hit a leg drop !

Hahaha. Maybe even more Half Life 2: Episode 3.

I think youre right about why Punk is being chanted.

So.... back to the point by Roman, Punk was derailed, and wasnt given the chance to try to be as big as Cena or even Brock. That is clear. He had outside companies wanting him in stuff and wanting to sponsor him.

Punk had people who were casual or not into wrestling, talking about wrestling. The pipebomb and then beating Cena and leaving with the title were huge stories outside of wrestling land.

WWE might have given him a year long run as champ, but they pretty much destroyed any steam he had from Summerslam onwards.

-ADR cashing in on him at Summerslam was stupid, and a waste of time at the wrong time.
-Triple H beating him was ridiculous.
-Nash getting involved was ridiculous.
-The whole roster being scared off and going on strike because Truth and Miz were beating up wrestlers? What?
-Then Summer of Punk leading to the main event ladder match of HHH beating Nash.
-On top of that, you had HHH come out and become COO to fire Vince, cos Vince tried to fire Cena... which lead to a month or so of HHH in charge and things going to shit, so .... Vince comes out and fires HHH? which leads to Johnny Ace being put in charge all because Punk called him a tool for firing people over a text

Oh and then Punk gets his world title reign starting in November, and hes not even main event as we get classic main events like Cena vs Johnny Ace which leads to a Big show heel turn :) And his reign ends with him losing to part timer Rock.... then losing at Mania to part timer Taker, which leads to a feud with part timer Brock... who he loses to at Summerslam.... so that he can feud with Curtis Axel and Ryback

Punk wasnt 'over' like Cena, or Rock? No shit. If he was booked even half the way they did for Cena and Roman, Punk probably would have been there for a few more years, at least.
Likewise imagine when Cena got over huge, if they then had him losing his Mania US title match to Big Show, or had him beating JBL for the title, but then a month later had him losing to Renee Dupree or something equivalent.

So I’m guessing Punk comes to the rescue of Moxley and Kingston to even the odds against 2.0 and Daniel Garcia in the main event?

If you are WWE, you can’t send your big star out there to shit on Punk not moving the needle in the week of his return, when your ratings under the era of Reigns have been in terminal decline.

I don’t believe for one minute the ratings decline is down to Reigns though, it’s wrestling in general. You could put prime Austin out there today and I don’t think it would boost the ratings massively. Times have changed too much.

That’s why all of this talk about a war between NXT and AEW was laughable. It really wasn’t a war. Prime Nitro/Raw WWE/WCE was a proper ratings battle and company rivalry, this was like two kids in a playground having a scrap compared to that.

Will Punk be able to use Cult of Personality in AEW? WWE haven't bought the song or anything ridiculous have they

WWE only licensed the song to use on their tv shows. Living Colour, or the record label will own the rights to the song so if AEW wanna pay the money, and for Punk you'd think they would, they could buy it for him. And maybe get Taz to do another sing song.

Both shoulders did come off the mat as I popped up with back still down, but that was improvised anyway not something I've done any work on countering. I guess it could be unclear to the crowd like that

The ratings aren’t down to Reigns, no. Part of it is that fewer people watch weekly TV shows live now, but part of it is that WWE programming is largely terrible and they’ve slowly but surely driven people away.

WWE has never been more profitable than they are now though. There’s a lot of money to be made from wrestling - and the WWE are competing for that. The wrestling business was hot pre-pandemic and I expect it to heat up once again. NXT will be a real loss as it looks like WWE will go back to churning out their largely filler content. AEW and NJPW are offering great world class shows, Impact and NWA are good alternatives, and the independent scenes will hopefully be thriving again soon.

Punk been trending all day on twitter.

Apparently there is a third big signing coming soon!

I'm not even a Punk fan but I haven't been this excited for anything wrestling related in years. Probably since WrestleMania 30 with Daniel Bryan. This is a big moment for the business.

I don't expect Bryan tonight, but, when he does join, I hope he's aligned with Punk. They have so much history and were great together in their brief run as a team vs the Wyatt Family in 2013. A knockoff Two Man Power-Trip rather than a knockoff nWo.

a guy on Twitter who's broke big AEW news before said that we should expect MORE than Punk tonight. It's going to be big.
