'tis a silly place
from the official site, an interview with our former chief scout now academy director Les Kershaw:

Is there anyone who didn’t impress but went on to be a star?

"It’s a classic – Thierry Henry! I saw him play for Monaco on several occasions and he was still very young – maybe 17 or 18. He had phenomenal pace but he looked raw. I now think he is a wonderful player."

Now itchy will write an essay on how we always miss out on 'starlets'

And when you add the fact that we could have had Zidane before he went to Juve...the guy will have a breakdown.

This was in the programme for the Newcastle game, why is it only just on the site now?

I've got the same impression of Henry while at Juve. Good player, good pace, but he looked very fragile and uneasy.

Look at what he became... :p

We could also have had that little uruguayan bloke Diego Forsomething or other... the one that was sold due to pressure on Fergie from all the people who didn't rate him and said he would never score etc... if only we'd kept him as I hear he's been scoring a few recently

BIG ;)

No really!

I'll be very honest... i didn't rate him at all at Moncao, like the fella in your quote, i thought that he was all pace and nowt else.. now he's arguebly the best player in Europe

(Btw i thought he would have become a winger)

however, i did rate Pires.........
