MUFC Champions 2006/2007: Where will the goals com
Just wanting some more opinions from Spanish Football watchers what he's really like. Ive seen bits and bobs of him playing for sociedad, but only a couple of his goals.

Basically just the usual really, What's he really like, does he need many chances to score, strong and weak points. And also, if United were to buy him in the summer, would you back the move and think he would fit in?

Just wondering..

He's not United class IMO, but as with many others he would fill the job of backup ok.

Is he goodlooking?

This is from Manchester evening news:

<a href="http://www.manchesteronline.co.uk/sport/football/manchesterunited/stories/Detail_LinkStory=55255.html" target="_blank">http://www.manchesteronline.co.uk/sport/football/manchesterunited/stories/Detail_LinkStory=55255.html</a>

And this is what Jordi Cruyff had to say about Nihat:

"He was signed from Besiktas last season by John Toshack and he took a lot of criticism for his performances. But this year he has been a new player," Jordi told M.E.N. Sport. "He is unbelievably quick and shoots from everywhere. If he played alongside a big centre forward he is very good feeding off that type of player because he is so incredibly fast.

"You really have to pinch yourself to believe how quick he is. He'll have a crack at goal from around 30-40 yards. He is very ambitious with his shooting and has been successful with it. He's a good player.

"Nihat would suit United's style. "If United buy someone they would normally have wanted to see a couple of consistent seasons behind the player. He'd certainly be one they should be watching though."<hr></blockquote>

To be better than Solskjaer? It's going to take a lot of money.

Make your own mind up Livvie.
44 goals in 151 appearances for all his clubs.

Raoul, he is not that ugly :D

SalfordMan, he used to play on the right wing, but this year he has been playing as a striker, so his 44 goals is actually very impressive.

I agree with WeasteDevil. It doesn't matter we get an out-and-out striker or a shadow striker, we just have to get a world-class one, e.g. Shevchenko/Ronaldhino.

What's the point of getting another "reasonable" player? If we cannot spend big unless we sell, then so be it. Sell Giggs to Inter and Becks to Real, get almost 60 million...quite a war chest (please, Beckham/Giggs fanatics...don't squeal)

i dont think we can accomodate another world class striker as long as we play 4-5-1 so nihat wouldn't be a bad choice

Kaka is the player we need to play behind Ruud. He reminds me a bit of Ronny a couple of years ago. Looks like he's off to Milan though. :(

Kaka looks a very good player i would like him over Ronaldinho he looks like he has the stature to handle english football better.Wouldn't he struggle with a work permit though ?? :(

Kaka doesn't even score much in the Brazilian league, so what makes you think he will become a great striker in the PL?

manusteve, you are right Nihat is not a famous striker yet, but that does not mean he is not a world class striker.
If you have been following the spanish league this season you would know how good he really is.

The true ones you can count on two hands.

I live in Spain, and IMO he's not United class if you are talking about putting Solskjaer down the pecking order. Otherwise you are buying a backup.

Has to be said Weaste, I'm falling for you.... ;)

According to Planetfootball Man Utd had representatives present at Real Sociedads latest game.
Nihat has currently scored 19 goals in 25 matches for Real Sociedad and OPTA has selected him as player of the month in April in La Liga.

Planetfootball also claims that Aletico Madrid are after the two United targets Nihat and Quaresma.

But isn't he a midfielder really? Reminds me a little of Gazza when he goes on one of his dribbles.

For me, as a Spanish Real Madrid suypporter, he is deadly. I think he is world class, at least this season, i dont know what age is him, if its 27/28 probably he is having his best season.

So, its a very good buy i think. If Manchester gets its will get a very good player. The thing is that they have Ole , Giggs ... that can play in the same position and both are very good.

I think Manchester should get a replacement of Keane, Viera is a good player.

Hi Folks i am from Turkey so i have watched him in Besiktas so i can give you some information about him..
He's 22 years old so reasonable young. Last year Sociedad has signed him for a fee of 4.5 M $ in the middle of the season. In Besiktas he was not so good but he's really playin' well in Spain. Unfortunaly I disagree that he could play in the starting line up , he would be just a "backup" for the Reds. I think United should sign a world famous right winger for Beckham..
