Thierry Henry vs Cristiano Ronaldo

Henry's getting on a bit now, so I'd say Ronaldo.

Henry was more influential in the premier league, but Ronaldo took it to a new level when he moved to Spain. Pity his record for Portugal is not very good compared to Henry for France.

Ronaldo comfortably the better player overall.

More apt would be their accomplishments in the PL where Henry would edge it, primarily because Ronaldo wasnt here long enough.

Would still be Ronaldo IMO.

Ronaldo was the BPITW at United

Henry for all his talent wasn't in that category

Ronaldo has been in the top two players in the world for about 5/6 years now

Some serious underestimation of Henry going on here. Absolute world class.

He was a quite fantastic player.Ronaldo was better but Thierry had some incredible seasons at the Arse.

Thierry was one of the finest players to have ever graced the premier league, I couldnt care less who shades it as it sure was a pleasure watching him play.

I don't know who that is. So I googled. This was the first result.
Such disgrace to a true legend!

Includes a great picture of Guy Gadbois, too.

Vaguely on topic, I don't want to compare them, and I think it's an exercise in futility to do so. I'm still interested to see where the Chief is going with this. And I agree with Ole here

I think RvP vs Henry would be a more apt comparison.

How so? Henry was world class for at least 5-6 seasons (+ the treble year at Barça), this is 'only' RVP's 3rd season where he's being touted as best player in the league.

Would still be Ronaldo IMO.

Not for me. He left far too soon after he became the player he is today. Henry on the other hand dominated the league for years, absolutely fantastic player at his peak, top drawer. Henry definitely the better PL player for me.

Henry was a beautiful player to watch. It's hard to decide who you'd want on your team though.

This. Henry was absolutely dominant in this league for years. Ronaldo had one out of this world season here, and his last year at United was not that great by his standards. When he moved to Madrid however, he became a machine.

I keep changing my mind on this. On the one hand, I'm not sure Henry ever quite reached the level Ronaldo was at during 06/07 (still think that was his best season), but I don't think there is anywhere near as much as people would assume between him and Ronaldo otherwise. I'm either thinking they were pretty much identical in terms of ability, or that Ronaldo may just edge it.

Henry was absolutely superb but Ronaldo is/was the better player by just a bit

Pires was dreamier if that's going to be your criteria.

You cheeky monkey.

Anyway, this is like comparing a ballet dancer to the Terminator.

Ronaldo.

Henry was an under achiever for arsenal, couldn't dominate the league like Ronaldo did and didn't make a substantial impression in Europe. Talent wise there's not much in it but in terms of realising that talent and transferring into success there's only one winner.

Aww Steve has a crush.

But yes he was great to watch. His runs were deadly. Must kill Arse fans that only 8 years ago they had the likes of Pires, Vieria, Henry and Ljunberg playing for them. Now look at them.

I still prefer Bergkamp...so there.

I hang my head in shame. Especially knowing that I've seen the movie. :o

He got arsenal to the CL final. Won a world cup. Won a european championship.

From 01-06 Henry scored 24 or more goals in the PL.

Idk how this isn't domination.

Henry deserved to win the WPOTY in one of the years when he went on a ridiculous run of scoring and assisting 20 goals in a league season.
