Wasn't sure whether to put this in the FF; if it's better there, please move mods.

With that said, as despicable a regime as they represent, there is a clear thread throughout the forum that many United supporters are hoping we can offload as many players on them as they will take. They are one of, well, one [club] who can not only take on our wages, but even improve on them for so-called superior players to take the temporary career hit in going there. The likes of, say, a Rashford, is going to come at a premium for them, as an example, and he'd almost certainly get a wage increase plus extras for going there.

As what is undoubtedly the most upwardly mobile club in the world, they can cast a wide net this summer and make use of players who aren't necessarily top 3 material, but anyone on the rungs down from there is viable for at least a couple of seasons before they are phased out, which makes a host of players we have viable targets, for now, but the reality for most of our players is they don't represent value or bang for buck quality, and just as wide as the aforementioned net is, it means Newcastle can pursue equivalent talent for less with no premiums based on status tax etc.

This makes me think selling to them will be a lot harder than people think. Prestige or marquee signings, a Rashford or Martial, sure or a player like Lingard who is a free agent they'd pay signing on fee for, are, to me, logical targets, perhaps Shaw, also, but beyond that, why would they take on other players we have? Even then, is it realistic to think 3 or 4 players could be sold/moved on to the same club in the same window? Could a Southampton-Liverpool exodus occur or is it wishful thinking from United fans?

Maguire is the most often mentioned player in regard to this subject, as far as I can see, but to me, he's the least realistic of all the players we have to go there. His profile, wage, age and form (interconnected) make no sense whatsoever for them to entertain when they will have cheaper, better options knocking doors via agents.

As the header asks, how do you see the hoped for 'connection' unfolding? What, or who, is realistically going there in your opinion?

I think that Henderson is the most likely, he would interest lots of clubs but not many can cover his wages and transfer fee which will likely give Newcastle a free run at him. I can’t see them signing anyone else off us, I think Lingard will go down to London probably West Ham but wouldn’t be surprised if spurs were in for him too.

It's mostly wishful thinking. At best they'll target one of our under performing players who they feel they can get to a better level, otherwise they'll prefer players without baggage like Chelsea and City have done (mostly).

None. Selling to Newcastle, particularly from a sellers perspective, would be a big win as that's possibly the best way to maximize the transfer fee.

We are awful at selling and hence would get feck all. Liverpool could've got 30 million for Origi from them had his contract not being ending.

It depends how clever Newcastle are. Ideally they would go for overpriced and under performing players just because they have a name and build a desperate squad over time.

If they actually plan out their transfer windows and buy sensibly then theres no chance of them signing the likes of Martial, because lets face it why would they.

I wish we could sell them our entire squad except ddg, sancho, bruno, elanga, ronaldo, dalot, varane, telles and matic.

A small sum of 500m should be a value proposition for the rest of them. Give that sum to ten hag and rangnick to scout players and we'd be competing after two transfer windows.

Newcastle were quite canny in the Jan window, can't see them doing anything crazy. Maybe Henderson.

Rashford would be perfect if they want him.

His off the court stuff would help their owners whitewash their reputation. Just imagine if Rashford did a charity event and they'll offer to match the money raised. It's a perfect PR stunt and it'll work out even better for them if Rashford reclaims his form.

Henderson on loan seems the only realistic deal between the two clubs.

Newcastle's ability to match, even exceed, United's wages, isn't sufficient to make them an attractive club to join right now. From Newcastle's perspective, what's the appeal of signing underperforming United players ?

I expect Lingard will end up at either West Ham or Newcastle.

Henderson is apparently one of the keepers they are looking at.

If (and it's a big 'if') we do decide to sell Rashford then Newcastle will definitely be interested. He's the biggest name they can get for the general England public to take notice of them, and his off-the-field work will bring good will towards them in their attempt to sports-wash the reputation of the owners. The issue is that he plays in the same position as ASM who is probably the only player they had from pre-takeover that they'll ultimately want to keep, plus I'd also be surprised if at least one of the giant clubs don't want to take a chance on possibly getting him back to his best.

Those are the only three I can see going there IMO.

Martial woukd seem a great option for them, he would be a big fish for them and feel like the main man and he fits the profile of a player have recruited in the past of maverick French flair player that teases to be something special and can imagine the fans get right behind him and be more forgiving than top clubs and their fans are towards him.

Why is the assumption that Newcastle will be badly run? I'd bet on them making better decisions than us.
