The winning formula: 4-4-2 plus......

..... 4 proven strikers. Face it, we won the treble and numerous titles with this formula. 442 is well balanced and can be lethal if we have the 4 necessary strikers. Should we find problems scoring, just replace the 2 strikers with the 2 fresh ones. Defenders will have problems just adjusting to these new attackers.

Now unfortunately, we currently have only 2 PROVEN strikers.............

We started the game today playing brilliant football, the United way.

We missed chances - it happens.

I'm only going to be concerned if it happens too many times. Last year we had games like this and we then proceeded to score like it was going out of fashion.

4-4-2 generally provides us with the most exciting football. I hope we don't abandon it altogether, or only play it now and then, because everything needs practice.

But we need 4-5-1 as well - if we master two formations, there'll be no danger of us becoming predictable.

Spot on. two season ago when the match was in a deadlock and we need more goal, we just put in another one or two striker from the bench and wait for the goal. But we no longer could do that now. If Fergie has any faith on Forlan, he won't wait until 89 minutes to send him on.
