So no goals from open play with defensive wing-backs. I know we're short for #10s, but there are others we can use besides Amad. Amad has looked great at RWB and keeps the opposition vary, while fielding two defensive options that provide nothing in an attacking sense makes us so easy to hold off. Dalot gets plenty of space, I wonder if that could be because he always comes back onto his right foot and circulates the ball backwards.

I am starting to think Amass needs to be given a chance here. Or Antony at LWB. And Amad should have that RWB position locked down. Mazraoui has been excellent in the back three. Dalot, I don't know. Could be cover for Amad.

We just can't be going into matches with 5 defenders and very little pace in that backline as well. I bet opposition teams love seeing those defensive lineups.

It's quite simple. The reason we are playing full backs at wing back and not Amad at RWB is because we have no options to play as the 10's (or CF). Garnacho has been dog shit all season, Rashford has been dog shit for years, Zirkzee isn't cut out for this league, neither is Hojlund, Bruno is suspended, Mount always injured.

If he starts Dalot and Mazraoui as wing-backs again, he frankly deserves to be sacked.

Eriksen is more feasible there than going with two defensive wing-backs. Also, that's a position that's not too risky to give youth a chance, and we've got prospects.

We need to buy two wing-backs in January, one for each side. Amad is the only player who hasn't looked completly lost playing the role but he's far to good to not play in the 10 position.

Of course if he gets a proper RWB behind him it would afford him much more space, but with our current options he's looked better IMV in the RWB position than at AM.

Pretty much this, although at this point I think you have to have Antony or Garnacho get a start at one of those WB roles especially if Amass isn’t going to play.

Right now teams have adapted and are daring anyone other than Amad to do something in attack. Dalot is getting countless 1v1 opportunities that he does nothing with and thus we are even more toothless than before at this point.

If we don’t have the quality required in that position, then we shouldn’t be playing with a system which relies on wing backs. It’s as simple as that.

Who exactly? "Give the youth a chance" is such a nonsense shout when things go badly, the jump from youth level to the premier league these days is massive, and you have to be a top talent to break through. Lacey recently came back from a big injury, Amass is another year away from this level for LWB. We don't have any youngsters like Amad from a few years ago, and he could only get Championship level loans.

Given we had no Ugarte, it really wasn't a surprise to see us go for the full backs at wing back today rather than risking Amad at wing back next to the geriatric midfield

It is getting to the point where he is actively sabotaging his own career here with his decision to play both Mazraoui and Dalot. At least if he goes down fighting it shows something. Surely we can afford to have at least Antony starting at RWB.

The only player to perform for us in the 10 role or at wingback is Amad.

Neither Mazraoui or Dalot are capable of playing to the levels needed from wing back in this system and none of Zirkzee, Garnacho or Rashford can play in a 10 role.

God knows who we can get for LWB. What is Amorim's former player Reis like? He is out of contract in the summer, as is Tyrick Mitchell who has interest from elsewhere himself.

Dalot is absolutely hopeless as lwb!! The only ever time he had seemed competent on the left is when he came into midfield. He cannot run the channel there, he always turns back! I can bloody mark him!! Maz isn't a rwb either! We need new players in both positions.

Side note, he has to either try Antony and amad both on the right either from the start or very early in second half. They seem to have some sort of connection. It's a tiny one but we are desperate at this point.

Jeremy Frimpong and one of Nuno Mendes or Alfonso Davies solves that problem.

Would move heaven and earth for the 2 of the above in the summer.

This. For a formation supposedly so dependent on attacking wingbacks, he sure does persist with Maz and D….a….lot!

I understand a severe lack of options but surely we can try and experiment some more (Antony, Garnacho, hell - give a youngster a try!).

I think this is my first “negative” post about Amorim.

Exactly, we need to slightly amend the system and ensure we get the best out of the players available. Try diamond or any other formation under the sun, but not this stupidity, where basically our two Wing backs and one Left CAM (Bruno) are not cut out for role. Plus having soo many defenders just confuse the feck out of them and have a negative impact on marking, resulting in more goals conceded on crosses.

Really surprised Amass is nowhere to be seen... Doesn't even seem like he's involved in first team training.

But yeah, go back to one winger Ruben.
