Any decent games coming out for it?

This entire year has been shit - nothing decent since Mario Galaxy/Pro Evo.

I was hoping the new Bond game for it would be good but apparently the developers fecked it up nicely.

Anything on the release list that is suppose to be an awesome game? I have gone through it and haven't seen anything, but I'm not up to date on gaming news so maybe someone here has info.

What he said.

Next Wii game to look forward to is Conduit, but even that could turn out average.

COD5 has offline split screen exclusive to the Wii if your interested and dont have any other console.

Slim pickings I'm afraid.

To be honest thats what you're going to get with the Wii. A horde of party games or so-called 'innovations' such as Wii Music and Wii Fit, or maybe some really bad ports, and once every several months you might be rewarded with a decent Nintendo update with another Mario Kart, SSB, Pikmin etc.

Though I did hear something about Dead Rising, though I think thats Q1 2009. Well I had some fun with Animal Crossing on the DS, so you best of buying that and hopefully you'll get some plentiful hours out of it.

Or you could buy a PS3/360

 Ya i was thinking that but I have to upgrade my PC so I won't have the funds for a 360 or PS3. TBH I'm kind of looking forward to the new Sonic game mainly due to the nostalgic factor and the fun I had playing Sonic Adventure on the dreamcast all those years ago. Wii Fit looked awesome until I realized that I could just go get fit haha. I might still pick it up if I see one. Dead rising was fun on 360 but has 0 replay value - once you get board of hacking up Zombies it's game over, and the difficulty curve on the 360 was like running into a brick wall.

Cheers - thanks muchly

EDIT: Well it's not all bad, several of those games look like they have potential - mainly the ones far down the list (e.g. EA Tennis with the controller addition, House of the Dead etc). Even Endless Ocean is suppose to be good in an oddly relaxing way.

I'm sure they'll feck up the controls or graphics or both on at least half of them though. Then there will be the ones that are ports that are worse than the original. Leaving only a select few that might be worth it in the end.

I think COD5 will be good on the Wii.

When does it come out again? I'm sure the graphics will be shit but if the gameplay is good then I'll take it. I have Medal of Honour Heroes 2 for Wii - it got tonnes of good reviews for the controls and even the graphics were half decent. The problem is the control sucks - so if that is award winning controls then I'm packing it in and saving up for a PS3 - at least that way I'll have a bluray as well.

And if Wii Music is their big holiday release then they are in for a surprise when they find out people get angry when they buy shit.

I apologise for bludgeoning into personal matters but are you upgrading your PC to play games? Because at this day and age you're much better off investing in a next-gen console. Not only does it more or less possess the same quality of gaming (see: Fallout 3, Call of Duty 4, The Orange Box etc) but it is also the more economic option, i.e. not spending hundreds every year or so to make sure your PC is up to scratch.

North America on the 11th November, Europe 14th and Australia 12th.

Agreed.

My PC is 5 years old and desperately needs to be replaced. It has served me extremely well but alas it is time for it to meet it's maker....well I'm it's maker so I guess it's already met me but it's time for it to become the eternal backup machine. If it wasn't for that little fact I'd already have a PS3/360.

Releasing a WW2 game on Remembrance day doesn't seem all that appropriate in my eyes....oh well...leave it to the marketing strategists.

If you use your console for gaming why do you need a computer update? It doesnt matter how old it is all that matters is what it can do. If i was you i would buy a basic desktop (or even laptop/macbook) use it for word processing, web browsing, playing videos, and music and then buy a console for gaming. Probably cheaper in the long run.

I know this is a bit of a side note but rather than start a new thread I'll just ask in here.

Why are the graphics on Wii so much worse than the Gamecube? The games from Nintendo show a marked improvement but 3rd party games are more often worse than they are the same or better.

Some of it looks like it came out of the N64 era.

Well actually the graphics are meant to look better on paper. Think of the Wii as being somewhere between the The Original Xbox and the Xbox 360 (but alot closer to the Xbox)

Nintendo havent really adopted advanced visuals and HD-gaming as their two other rivals have, this time round they've emphasised more on casual play and motion sensing controls.

As for 3rd party Wii games looking quite bad graphically....im not too sure myself, honestly I think its because most developers can probably get away with being lazy in designing Wii games since the primacy is not on visuals. But you'd have to ask someone like Weaste or Redlambs who's more enlightened in that field.

It's more complicted than I'm going to describe it, but in laymans terms Wii is a GameCube. All they have really done on the mobo is that the CPU has gone from around 480MHz to 720MHz (the whole of the Wii CPU is more than 4 times less powerful than the PPU on Cell or a single XB360 CPU core), the GPU has gone from 160Mhz to 240Mhz, and they have doubled the memory. As far as I can remember it has a maximum frame buffer size of 640x480 and thus if you have widescreen the thing has to render anamorphically. It can render scenes just as well as a GameCube, but is able to up the complexity because of the higher clock.

Why certain Wii games look like shite is entirely down to the developer and the time and money they are willing to put into games.

Lazy bastards.

Thanks for the info Weaste.
