Would you guys exchange Veron against Crespo + cash??It is a tough call for me as Veron is my favourite player in Man Utd and Crespo one of my favourites in Lazio. But our midfield got Scholes too.Crespo-Rvn +the supply from Giggs and Beckham.Would like to buy Crespo straight off for cash and then buy 2 defenders. It will cost about 50 million but the new managers transfer kitty will probably go to Fergie(although it is the plc). Then we sell some fringe players like Yorke,May and ???.They will probably bring in about 6 million.

If this were pure fiction/fantasy and a matter of balancing the books, then yes, I would swap the two players and give Lazio no more than 5m, and then immediately buy D'Allesndro.

Realistically it will never happen, and I hope that Seba stays on. ;)

No way id let Veron go, hes one of the top 4 midfielders in the world. Thank god Fergie agrees with me on this one.

Keep Seba at all costs, which won't be to hard seen as he wants to stay.
Crespo = overated twat and media bullshite

He still was top scorer last year in Serie A.And that in the most defensive league of all leagues,(im not ruling liverpool out).

We shouldn't have to change anything in our midfield for a few years when Keano's contract expires. We need two defenders and a young striker. That's it.

Why did we buy Forlan??.We need a new partner for Rvn even if Solskjaer is a class player.

we need two defenders as Raouls just suggested..not sure about a new young striker tho' as we've got Forlan..and Yorke's still at the club (will he EVER move on?)

greetings jedi....hey giggzy, who says we need a new defender....we still have david may....he's twice the defender nesta will ever be ;)

Seba aint going nowhere, i must admitt earlier on in the season, i thought me might sell him, and buy rivaldo for a cut price, but now i believe he will stay.

The only transfer i'm going to try and predict, is that ayala will be a manchester united player this summer.

I do think one more defender, maybe hofland (all dependent on price of course) and another striker, i would not rule out PDC.

I concur. We have a relatively young squad here and from where I'm standing we look like we have an upper hand on the majority of other teams regarding the future. Hopefully Veron will stay put during the summer and will improve as he gets to grips with the Premiership in his second season once the wave is over. If this happens our midfield could stay more or less the same for 4/5 years (with the possible exception of Keane leaving at the end of his contract).

The left hand side will start to become a concern in about 3 years time. Giggs is inevitably going to start to loose some of his pace at some point!

I agree long term search for a left midfield player, in the short term i believe that for the purpose of cover, damien duff, would provide effective cover for giggs, similar type player, pace, skill etc..

In the long term, a player we shoulod buy although slightly different from the giggs type, but not far off, is the ajax, 18 yr old midfielder
Rafael Van Der Vaart, he is feckin quality can play in the centre and on the left, is young, scores goals, effective ball distribution, very mobile and scarily enough @ 18 already worth about £20 million! we should pre contract this geezer, real  or someone else get their hands on him!

We've got Chadwick and Fletcher to replace Giggs - if neither of those two make it then we should close down the academy.

Maybe Fletcher but Chadwick will not make it.Maybe if he scares the opponents lol.Think Kewell will be a great replacement for Giggs.

Sounds like you've seen as much of him as Suckshit had of Hargreaves. He may be hyped in the media but he is so for good reason - he's a fecking good striker.

I think Chadwick will make it, he's very similar to Giggs when he came into the first team, but without the same pace. Giggs wasn't a good crosser, nor goal scorer back then - and he's still not quite as good at those as I expected him to be. I think its a shame too many people see Chadwick as just ugly, rather than an exciting football player who is clearly one of the best in the England U21 team. He's also very well regarded at Old Trafford, which is why he's had more first team opportunities than, say, Michael Stewart.

Chadwick as yet to convince me to be honest. He still seems to pass opponents through a combination of stumbling and total unpredictability in what he's going to do as a result of his inability to control the ball. He always looks like he's got the ball stuck under his feet and as though he's gonna fall over until miraculously he's passed his man! It's either genius or luck. I'll go with the latter.

He's very lucky then because he consistently does it and its considered his strength. But he does have a funny run.

Wasn't Giggs a regular at 18??

Its daft to keep comparing any young winger you have with Giggs, he's a once off..

Chadwick is poor

What about this Richardson feller in the youth team?
People who've seen him is raving - he's supposed to be the hottest young property at the club (along with Mads Timm) and a player in the Giggs mould...

Giggs was a once off, and certainly better than Chadwick because he was a prodigy - but he's the only player we've had since who is capable of mazy runs. Luke is U21 and still has time to come good, if he can stick some weight on and improve his crossing then he'll be a useful player who in 3-4 years time would be able to play in our team without weakening it.

He's a hot prospect but is still young, and again, not enough weight on him, so it will be some years before he is ready for first team action I think - but I hope he gets a game or two in the Worthington Cup next season.

Haven't seen enough of Fletcher to know if he's good enough. As for Chadwick making it, he'll continue to be a squad player, and will eventually want out because of lack of playing time.

He's a cross between Kanu and Rodney Trotter :)

Chadwick will leave in a year or two, probably to Boro.

Simple question - why?

We need a 4th striker, but what is wrong with Ruud/Ole ffs.

I love Ole but if we had both him and Crespo Id have Crespo above him

*************

And all this time I've thought that was you....

Now theres no need to quote me on two seperate forums love but Ill answer again anyway.
If we had Crespo he would be my first choice partner to Van Nistelrooy, but we have'nt got him and I would'nt give up Veron or pay 30 plus million for him, because I don't think he's worth it, which in other words he's overated

I apologise.

I obviously misunderstood the words "over-rated twat", and also misunderstood the fact that you said you would choose said "over-rated twat" over Ole.

And Anyway Livvie we all know Oles more of a super sub ;)

Nothing wrong with Ole/Ruud but we need worldclass cover.Forlan isnt there yet.

Come on Michael. Admit you cocked up. ;)

If you'd said you rated Crespo, but didn't want to swap him for Veron, that's one thing. But you said on one forum you prefer Crespo to Ole, and on here that he's an over-rated twat.

Which doesn't say much for Ole does it.

So Im a little loose with my words, but common sense would be enough to no Im not having a dig at Ole.
I don't see the point in discussing it anyway because common sense would be that Crespo int coming to us

Us buying Crespo is a highly unlikely scenario, despite what the papers are saying. As I see it, we won't have more than between 40-50m to spend this summer, upwards of which 80% or so will go to buying two quality defenders (maybe even three if Blanc leaves), and the remaining 20% or so going to a striker. Thus Crespo would be out of our spending range and our needs.
