The officiating in this tournament has really been awful this time. Serena had 4 or 5 calls that were just wrong. I don't know if Capriati still would have won, but there's no excuse for those calls. Agassi had a few calls go against him earlier that were wrong, too. How many umpires have been banned?Jacqueline_S said:i feel bad for S. Williams being KO'ed by the umpire....

The official gets 'punished' by not officiating anymore in the Open this year.DEB said:The officiating in this tournament has really been awful this time. Big deal at Q-Final Stage! ( was she scheduled to officiate in further rounds? )
The 'injured' player, in this instance, Serena, loses far more.
Something, far more than merely refusing to pick the official further, has to be seen to be done - too many officiating errors, dealt leniently, would devalue the sport.
I agree that Serena was injured. Unfortunately, one can't appeal a judgement call. My point in this is that the umpiring has been really bad in this tournament. I think it's obvious that it needs to be improved.kkcbl said:The official gets 'punished' by not officiating anymore in the Open this year.
