That's right.

I'm talkin' the tunes that as soon as you hear; you promptly stand up, find your best mates, chuck your arms around their shoulders, and belt some notes out on the top of your inebriated voices, shed a sly tear, all whilst proceeding to spill your beers everywhere.

EVERYONE has their favourites, what are yours?

For mine:

Men at Work - Land from Down Under (make me shed tears - plus any song with the lyrics 'Where beer does flow and men chunder' is an instant classic)
Cold Chisel - Khe Sahn
John Farnham - The Voice (never have I ever sung a song more passionately)

Piss off. Why move my thread? It's up for general discussion!!!!!!!!! It's not going to get half the attention in here!!!!!!!!

KHUNTS!

I can't stand this, it makes me cringe. Whether it's someone (even one of my mates) pulling me into a big huddle or watching a group of people huddle together. Having the group next to you jump into you and spill shit all over you is also one of the most irritating things ever.

Songs that groups regularly perform these acts to:

Bon Jovi - Livin' On A Prayer
Proclaimers - 500 Miles
Reef - Place Your Hands

And to a lesser extent, with more just jumping up and down: House Of Pain -
Jump Around.

All of these seem to get a reaction like it's the first time they've heard the song in ages, yet everywhere seems to play them. All the time. They were all good once as well.

Yeah those get done a bit.

But I'm talking about the songs that stir something up inside you. Surely there's a few? Everyone has one.

Yes, I do. I just seemed more focused on your first point!

Most Michael Jackson stuff, Snap - Rhythm Is A Dancer - that always seems to get me in a dancing mood. Otherwise just random classics I haven't heard in ages!

Aussie Bogan Pub Bands, nothing more ridiculous or pointless.

May as well the hoodu guru's, come any time and ACDC's, shook me all night long to your list.

May as well? Why?

I don't (particularly) like those songs/bands, hence they don't fit the bill, hence I didn't put them in in the first place... I was singling out songs, irrespective of the band/bogan-ness etc. So that was a stupid reply really, especially as you have offered nothing up yourself.

Like I said, I was asking for your favourite pub songs that make you feel something.

On a side note, when has John Farnham ever been bogan? And explain how Bogan Aussie bands are pointless?

my local gets down to:

Dont look back in anger
superstition
deeper underground
Sex machine
Sabotage

My personal favourite that will always get me dancing is dont stop til you get enough but i like all the above. We are an eclectic outpost in a town full of pikeys.

I cant fecking stand build me up buttercup or 500 miles, but the worst is park life, all these stupid drunk cnuts dancing around to a song which is condemning their style of life like its some kind of anthem. Blur- girls boys whatever its called is worse. GUYS! ITS feckING IRONIC!!

The Dubliners - Wild Rover

And alot of noggie tunes none of you (except noggies, obviously) will have heard of :D

Postgirobygget - Idyll, Bohemen er død, Under isen ++
Jokke - To fulle menn, Her kommer vintern, Gutta, Hvis jeg var deg ++

And probably many more.

I never listen to music in the pub since I am usualy there to eat or watch sport. Our local is too rubbish to just go for a casual pint. It is like a TAB with a bar thrown on as an afterthought. They even have Keno in the fecking restaurant. And I would collect every poker machine in the world into a large pile and burn them.

If I was there for music surely Chumbawumba - I fall down, must be the ultimate pub song.

John Farnham does make me want shove red hot pokers into my ear canals mind. I don't mind Barnes/Cold Chisel but Man At Work are brilliant entertainment.

The Pogues & The Dubliners - Whisky In The Jar
Oasis - Don't Look Back In Anger
Rancid - Radio
Bruce Springsteen - Dancing In The Dark

And loads of other songs.

The Pogues - Dirty Old Town is a classic although its been taken off the jukebox in the local pub even tho it was played all the time.

I'm not a big Oasis fan, but the other day at my mate's house party, someone started playing Champagne Supernova on the guitar and it went off. Had about 30 people singing along to it.
