I know this sounds behind the times but I live in Japan where you often do not get the chance to read books or see some new movies until considerably later. Therefore I only recently read the autobiography of Sir Alex by Michael Garrick (or Carrick) - sorry I can't remember the author's name.

I'd like to check the authenticity of the story about Jonno Greening (and Michael Wilson) that had them refusing to employ Jason Ferguson as their manager which had the consequences of Sir Alex threatening them even with staying in the reserves. If this is true, it smacks of a very unprofessional nepotism that has no place in Manchester United.

Good on Jonno and Michael for refusing to be manipulated this way and for going to a club where they are free of this kind of improper pressure. But is the story true? Can anybody enlighten me?

Rumours of nepotism have been around for a while. Could be true, I dunno.

But what I do know is that Greening was shite in a United shirt (His England U-21 performances which I never saw were supposed to be good). And he was obviously thought to be better than Wilson, since he had so many opportunities to make it in the first team. Greening never impressed upon me that he had a chance to make it at United. I think its good for everyone that he left, since he has done better at Boro.
