Do any of you Brits follow this?

Time trial stage today. I'm expecting Sir Bradley Wiggins to tear the rest of the field a new one, personally.

Judging by the crowds watching in the Lake District, you're wrong.

Unfortunately the country is run by small crowds of unemployed posh people. I prefer not to use the same such criteria by which to judge the relative popularity of our sporting events also.

 How can you tell whether those stood out in the pouring rain in the Honister Pass were posh or not?

Nah we don't like cycling.

So Sir Bradley didn't create cycling fever a year ago with his Tour dé France-win?

And what about Froome? Is he popular? Or Cavendish? You guys should really love cycling, you've got some wonderful riders. We've got, well Kristoff at a push and Boasson Hagen. Hushovd's been shit for about two years. And Nordhaug's crap as well.

You just have to ignore cider he's a miserable sod.

Check out the fever pitched interest at http://letour.yorkshire.com/ and the current Tour of Britain to see how much interest there is in cycling.

The Tour dé France will start in fecking Yorkshire next year? What the actual feck?

I was kind of interested in cycling since watching some of the Tours about 2005-2008. But then lost all interest due to the whole drug-mania.

Now it seems cycling has tried to rid the sport of what has previously haunted it, and I was really sold on it again during the Arctic Race of Norway, with the finish line in my hometown. That was fecking great.

So now I've reignited my interest and watched almost all of this years Vuelta. Are you a cycling man Marching?

Yorkshire is a great choice! Not really a cycling person although I do watch occasionally on the TV and will be taking in some Yorkshire stages of the Tour next year.

So, Sir Bradley Wiggins as expected demolished the field and have the jersey after day three. Bodes well for his TT chances at the Worlds next wednesday.

Next up: Stoke-on-Trent to Llanberris. A couple of steep hills and a really steep, itense climb to the top of the last hill before going swiftly downhill to the finish line. Interesting to see if someone like Quintana has a go today, but I suspect Sky will try and place Wiggins well going into the hill and protect him from there. I don't think he'll go for the stage win, not explosive enough.

Just look in the Tour de France thread. It was awful. A soon as anyone does any good... Drugs!

To be fair you can't blame them. Forget the Tour.. The Vuelta was won by Chris Horner and 99% of the people watching (including me) think he was doped. The sport may be cleaner, but it needs to clean itself up. Even in the Tour, some performances made me go WTF.

It makes it not worth watching and discussing if this is all we are going to get though. I'd rather give everyone the benefit of the doubt until such a time as they are caught out.

I'm pretty sure all of this "Everyones doped" shouting is just an attempt to be able to come back later and say 'I told you' when one of the 50 that were accused comes back positive at a later date. The tour was ridicuous. I reckon there were less riders that weren't accused of doping on this site. I can't believe any of you still watch it. I mean why do you all watch it if you are just gonna come out with this rubbish. Are you now watching it in some sort of competition to see who is best at spotting dopers? Becasue you certainly cannot be getting any enjoyment out of the sport with that attitude can you?

I'm now off to the snooker forum to accuse them all of match fixing. :wenger:

I agree with you, but some numbers don't lie. For example, I'll look at the Vuelta. Contador is arguably the best climber in the last 5 8 years. He was doped in 08? I think.. And Horner did a faster time than him up one of the toughest mountains in Spain, at the age of 41 after never being a great climber. People are going to talk!

EDIT: he did a faster time than a possiblt doped Contador in 08
