Anyone else watching this? It's a 6 parter on BBC2 and is basically a look at how various streets in London have changed since Charles Booth did a survey in 1886. It's fascinating stuff!

It's been excellent.

What is particularly fascinating is how streets have completely changed in social class structure over the years - the one on Notting Hill this week showing it as an absolutely god-awful slum as late as during the war which has now been completely transformed into an incredibly wealthy neighbourhood was incredible to see.

For me the best show was about the Caledonian Road, simply because I used to live near there and I never really went down it very often for fear of getting mugged. That really did have a fascinating history, what with being a cattle market and now having flats underground for people to inhabit. It's quite moving to see people who have been there fifty odd years who have seen their street completely change socially, and they've been left behind - a remnant of the past.

Fabulous programme.

Yeah the Caledonian one was phenomenal. That landlord was a right cheeky bastard, but they let him get away with it. I couldn't believe he had all those flats underground as well

I thought it was brilliant that the residents had defeated British Rail as well, but it seemed that the descendant of Darwin was the main reason, what with his connections in the House of Lords.

Portland Road was excellent as well. Really startling to see how it went from a slum to a place for the mega rich. And, as much as the banker could be described as a loathesome individual, I found his honesty really refreshing. He seems to have gone through a bit of a journey of discovery over the years and sees the ' keeping up with the Joneses' mentality for the nonsense it is. What a cracking programme.
