The Sad Tale of Indian Hockey

Motivation isnt alone enough, There is nt enough talent ATM available to compete with likes of germany, holland and aussies.
I think we need to start over, get rid of all old wood, promote the game at grass roots level . we need to stop longing for short term success and build for future even if it takes 5-6 years.

its sad but i dont have any sympathy... I personally have always been crazy abt cricket and never had any interested in hockey whatsoever... but people from other sports have always blamed cricket and the fact that cricketers get more money, sponsers etc etc.

But just look at the behavior.. players coming out in the papers to make their feelings towards the coach felt...the coach then replying back to each players statement through the press...its a bloody soap opera where everyone blames everyone else.

Youd think cricket...where the stakes are 10 times higher, more money is put in, and is followed more...would be like this. But it isnt. Comparitively cricket in india is so well organised...the teamwork is amazing.. the huddle, the mixture of youth and experience, etc... its so good to see.. hockey in india needs to learn from cricket.

Honestly i think there needs to be some big changes...we need to do away with people like dhanraj pillay...wheather we depend too much on him or not...its causing problems..and the youth needs to take over.. Secondly i dont think this coach is working.. our team has been the most disorganised on field iv seen for a long time...hes done a terrible job.

In the past we've beaten stronger teams from Holland, Germany and Australia consistanly and this team has the talent.I can still remember before the Barca Olympics and Atlanta Olympics we beat every other top team in the world and we were the favourites. But the main problem that time was we were blown away by teams who play fast paced counter attacks like Korea and Germany. Now it has gone worse. We are unable to get the basics right.

What worries me is the fact that weaker teams like Spain, SA, Argentina and NewZealand have grown stronger and have achived alot more than we 've done in then international hockey.

coz they are too dependant on dhanraj pillay
and are lazy the freakin cnuts

Over the years Pargat Singh,Jagbir Singh, Mukesh Kumar did retire from Hockey at the right time.Even its the same case with Pakistan where players like Shabazz and Tahir Zaman retiring. I cannot understand why this Dhanraj Pillay is still keeping his fingers crossed about his retirement plans
