we passed up on duff, Diouf, ronaldhino, and rivaldo, and we only paid 14 million for RIO, that tells us that we must be in for a better player than these, aBig Gun, like Ronaldo or Crespo.

Fergie's been after him for years and now he is fit and wants a move, said he was itching for england in WC, as he wants to go + the current problems in Italy and inter paying his enourmous wages, we are the only club that could afford him, without going into the red.

watching Real dismantle Livvershite and us being dominated by a an average european team in Ajax, told us something: we are not too bad defensively now but in tattack we cannot recover situations anymore, against defensive or ball holding teams.

just one question

when were we dominated by ajax?

give it up about ronaldo we aint gonna get him

Solskjaer is good enough for me. Fed up of Ronaldo drivel. <img src="graemlins/yawn.gif" border="0" alt="[Yawn]" />

We need another striker. Ronaldo's out of the question however.

I think if we have the opportunity to buy him we should go out straight and buy him, he is another class. Even more importantly, we have to make sure Real Madrid don't buy him, because that would mean another CL trophy for them this season, they would just be too good in all departments. Raul and Ronaldo in attack?! Figo and Zidane?! Roberto Carlos and Hierro!? I think if Real Madrid dont buy any one we have all the chance in the world to take home the trophy, but a revived Ronaldo in a white shirt would just be too much.

The only match we might have over Real Madrid is that they will only pay for him in installments why we can pay sport cash.

On soccernet.com ronaldo said "I want to play in England, Manchester United is a great club, however so is Real M.Fergie said he will make a move soon before the month is over the strikers who are on his list are duff, crespo, lopez, ronaldo and kluivert. Real and Manchester united are belived to spend about 40 million quid for Ronaldo.

Any thoughts?

We won't though, Cudly-Pete's keeping the wallet tight to his chest. Expect around £5m + the Yorke money to be available, that's what I reckon anyways.

where 's the link
it must be pretty old

I think, if possible we must get Ronaldo. Let's not kid ourselves... I love Ole as much as the next person! Really, I do, he's probably thebest finisher at the club....But!!! HOW GREAT of a player is he? Is he good enough to permanently partner Van in attack for an ENTIRE season? We need two WORLD CLASS strikers....Not one, and a top class striker.

Ronaldo's going nowhere, says Moratti

ROME, Aug 4 (Reuters) - Massimo Moratti, the owner of Inter Milan, has no intention of selling Ronaldo to Real Madrid and said he would not believe the Brazilian wanted to leave until he heard it from him face-to-face.
'I haven't spoken to him recently. But I know from experience that whenever he is in Brazil confusion is created,' Moratti told La Repubblica newspaper in an interview published on Sunday.

'I'm accustomed to not believing what's reported. I believe only what I see and hear with my own ears. That's why, above all, I'm waiting to speak to Ronaldo one-to-one.'

Ronaldo's agent told Real Madrid last week that the World Cup winner was ready to leave Inter, although Real's sporting director Jorge Valdano said the club were only relatively interested in the player.

Moratti, who spent £18.5million to acquire Ronaldo from Barcelona in 1997, said he could not imagine Inter without the 25-year-old and would do everything to keep him.

'Inter have no intention of giving in on this. He is not for sale. We have only fixed a base price, below which we would not go, and that begins at £68million,' he said.

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has already broken the transfer record twice in his first two years in charge to buy Luis Figo for £37million from Barcelona and Zinedine Zidane for £45million from Juventus. Forking out close to £68million for Ronaldo is not a possibility.

'Some time ago, when some figures were put on the table, we were so far away we couldn't even get to 50 per cent,' Real sporting director Valdano said on Friday, when the Ronaldo rumours first surfaced.

Moratti said he expected to see Ronaldo possibly as early as Monday, when the player returned to start preparing for the new season.

'I think he's going to arrive Monday. But even if it's Tuesday or Wednesday, that's no problem. I just want to see him face-to-face.'

well thtast us and REAL out of the equation, bring on ronaldhino???

I've heard that too often: Gaspart about Figo, Agnelli/Moggi about Zidane.

Oh yeah, that's why Inter didn't try try to snatch Roberto Carlos a month ago.

ronaldo is too expensive and is too risky. I'm 100% sure that he'll be plagued by this knee injury throughout his life. Get Duff for god's sake!!!

Duff a better option than Ronaldo? <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" /> <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" /> <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" /> <img src="graemlins/lol.gif" border="0" alt="[Laugh Out Loud]" />

I would rather have Ronaldinho

FERGIE TOLD: SELL BEFORE YOU BUY

Ronaldo linked with United move

Manchester United will not try to buy Brazil star Ronaldo or Aston Villa striker Darius Vassell and Sir Alex Ferguson must sell before he can buy, chief executive Peter Kenyon said.

Kenyon dismissed reports that Ronaldo - who scored eight goals in the World Cup - and England forward Vassell are on Ferguson's shortlist.

But he has warned the United manager that, despite Dwight Yorke's move to Blackburn, he must sell more players if he wants to make any more big-name additions to his squad.

Having already splashed out almost £30million on Rio Ferdinand to shore up the fallen champions' defence, Ferguson had intimated that he wants to buy another striker before the Champions League and Premiership deadline later this month.

However, Kenyon claimed he believed Ronaldo was going to Real Madrid, and that reality had to be injected into United's future spending.

He said: "You can never say no about what you might have to pay in the future, but the reality is that whether you pay £10million or £30million it has to be in line with what the business can afford.

"The reality of the situation to date is that you can't just keep spending and adding players to the squad."

He added: "The rumour we hear is that Ronaldo will be going to Real Madrid, we have neither approached or been approached about Ronaldo. Neither him or Darius Vassell feature in our ideas."

And Kenyon explained how the Ferdinand deal is structured for delayed payments over the next five years, and why United felt they had to sign the England star.

He said: "You don't spend £30million on a player lightly, but it was a real target. We decided at the end of last season that the area that needed strengthening was the defence.

"What we were looking for was a player who could make the difference.

"We have a payment structure that covers the next 12 months and a performance-related element for the next five years, that gives everybody some protection.

"Ultimately it depends on how successful we are. We will be delighted if over the five-year period we have to pay that, because that means we will have been as successful over the next five years as we have in the last five," he told the BBC.

Do you think Ronaldo will transfer from Inter Milan this summer?
Yes
No

MADRID, Aug 4 (AFP) - Brazilian World Cup star Ronaldo is unhappy in Italy and wants to leave Inter Milan, his agent was quoted as saying in Spanish newspapers on Sunday.

Ronaldo's agent Alexander Martin told Marca sports daily that the 2002 World Cup top-scorer had had "four unhappy years" in Italy and wanted to return to Spain.

"Ronaldo is sad in Italy. He has had four unhappy years there and he doesn't feel it is going to change next season," Martin was quoted by Marca as saying.

Ronaldo's future has been the subject of intense speculation this week, with Spanish press reporting that Real Madrid are planning a bid to prise the player away from the San Siro.

Martin, who met Real's sporting director Jorge Valdano last week, said negotiations were at a 'very advanced stage'. But he added that if the Real deal fell through Ronaldo would be staying put.

"If he doesn't go to Real, Ronaldo will stay at Inter. There's no other option," he said.

According to Marca, the sticking point remains a transfer price with Inter wanting 60 million euros for the player and Real only willing to pay 40 million euros.

Real could be willing to offload French midfielder Claude Makelele as part exchange for Ronaldo, Marca reported.

Ronaldo moved to Inter Milan in 1997 from Barcelona, but has spent long periods on the sidelines with injury problems.

He returned to form at the World Cup with Brazil this summer, scoring eight goals to lead his country to a record fifth triumph in the tournament.

Inter Milan have so far insisted the player is not for sale.

so its Real or nothing by the likes of it???

Ronaldo would be great but there's no hope of him we wont spend the cash as pete is putting shareholders before the fans we should have tried to sign som of the Fiorentina players on free's

I just don't see the point of spending so much money on a striker when we have two excellent ones. We need potential backup yes but mostly magic, after games we keep concluding we couldn't "unlock the tight defending". Ronaldo won't do that, he will be as effective as RVN or OGS in that department.

If we want to unlock defences, it HAS to be Little Ronaldo!

That said, I can't see it happening. Kenyon's talk made sense to talk down asking prices but he is not only adamant, he also keeps mentioning the financial repercussions of buying big while not selling. It's not the best strategy if you are about to sign another big player, not stock market-wise!

Absolutely correct.
