2003 Playoff Bracket and Regular Season Standings
Okay, the regular season is over and it's time for another round of "which Cafite will win the NBA this time?" First, let's take a look at the regular season standings. I've added the Streak and Last 10 stats this time, so you can tell how close you were to making or not making the playoffs.
Eastern Conference
Almost everyone who was predicted to make it, made it. The only exception is @reelworld with the Washington Wizards. In his defence, the East turned out to be quite strong this year, or at least very even. As expected, @BenitoSTARR made it with the Knicks, trailing the scary Bulls. @Dan's back in the playoffs with Philadelphia, 5 seasons in a row where his team weren't good enough. The 3-seed is quite surprising, but it's worth noting that the5 games separate the 3-seed and the 7-seed.
@oneniltothearsenal is back in the playoffs as well, as expected. His team is actually pretty decent, but are they strong enough to take down the top 2? Cleveland is also back in the playoffs, not having made it (or been particularly close) since @altodevil's first season at the team. Now the team belongs to @V.O. and his sidekick @Skizzo.
Western Conference
We've got a lot more missing out in the West, and a couple of them are quite surprising. @Samid missing out was expected, as the Rockets are very much a work in progress. @Stobzilla and @P-Nut also ended up in their expected 9th spot, though note that their record puts them one game behind a playoff spot. It's even worse for @sebsheep, with his Trailblazers only missing out on tiebreakers (
). We've also got the Nuggets with @Salt Bailly and @Dr. Dwayne as low as 12th, though they were only two games from making it.
If you look at the L10 (last ten games) stat, you can identify what happened. Both the Golden State Warriors and the Spurs went 7-3 in their last 10, while all our close calls had losing records at the same time. That also means that the Spurs were definitely out of playoff contention before @hobbers came back and dragged them back in it. Other than that, both @altodevil's Sacramento and the Seattle trio of @weetee, @Solius and @The Cat made it, as expected.

He actually played pretty well, but the rest of his team just wasn't quite up to the challenge. In the East, the Cafite v Cafite match-ups are completely even at the moment.
That's altodevil and the Sacramento Kings through, which shouldn't come as a big surprise. In the East, Miami and oneniltothearsenal have taken the lead against Dan's Philadelphia, as has BenitoSTARR's New York. Surely the 2-seed are going to put away the 7-seed Cleveland now?
Nope! V.O. and Skizzo are fighting back, and it's now 3-3. It would be a huge upset if they can defeat the recent 2-time champions. We already have a smaller upset in the East, as oneniltothearsenal has led the Heat to putting away Dan and the 76ers. Though the difference between the 3-seed and the 6-seed only amounted to 3 regular season wins, so they shouldn't feel too bad about it.

All Cafite games are going more or less as expected (sorry @oneniltothearsenal), but surprisingly the Chicago behemoth that I've been building up just dropped a game to Toronto.
And Chicago dropped another! The three other games all look like they could well end in sweeps. oneniltothearsenal has actually been playing very well so far, it's just that starting places 3 to 5 are all in BenitoSTARR and New York's favour.
@altodevil and his Sacramento Kings have completed the 2nd Round sweep over the Phoenix Suns. The closest games was 97-84, which is also the one where Phoenix scored the most. BenitoSTARR and his Knicks also completed the sweep against Miami and oneniltothearsenal, but all of those games ended within a 5-point margin at most, so it was much closer than it looks. Chicago pulled it back to 2-2 (I told you they were going to be the end boss), while the Seattle boys let one slip against Minnesota.
Not quite a sweep, but that's @weetee, @Solius and @The Cat through to the predicted Conference Final, where they will face altodevil and his Sacramento Kings. That's actually all the Cafites settled for this round, but the remaining match will decide who the Knicks get to face in the Conference Finals, and very well might decide the West's opponent in the finals.
I'll be honest, this is not what I expected. What looked like a real challenge for BenitoSTARR in Chicago, actually turned out to be one he didn't have to face at all. That makes it all the more likely that we'll see a Cafite champion, as Toronto surely can't handle any of you... could they? They did just take down Chicago, so maybe they're the real final boss - the one you don't see coming.

It'sNinja Sacramento! I was just about to call this an upset, before I realized altodevil's team was the 1-seed with a very good regular season record. The Cat, Solius and weetee will be disappointed, but they got to the Conference Finals where they took a very good side to game 7. Not a championship, but not bad at all. That means altodevil will face Toronto in the NBA Finals. A Toronto side that has just taken out the 4th, 1st and 2nd seeds in the East.

San Antonio got taken out by the Seattle Boys, after hobbers was injured for half the season and the Spurs dropped to 7th seed because of it (actually even lower, but hobbers came back and dragged them back up). Unfortunately being the best player in the world isn't enough, you need other players. For reference, when hobbers was injured I am pretty sure the Spurs were among the worst teams in the league, full stop.
But Hobs was playing all games agains us in the playoffs or wasn‘t he fully fit? Just curious because 0-4 is hefty for an all-star player of his calibre.
He was fit. He was averaging 22 points, while the rest of the starters averaged 35, combined. He had a GameScore of over 20 in three out of the four games, while the rest got over 10 twice. Combined.
Also in one game Solius had a GameScore of 39.2, so that's something.
