Be wild if this super team hits the ground running and nobs extends

Oooooh

Excited! Nice to have an oldie to mentor us

The team need to throw whatever money we have left at the best point guard they can find.

Also, sad to see Curry in his prime a 57

I think I started at SA as well. Sonius following in his father’s footsteps.

To be fair. With my attribute spread I'll probably be very useful for a title team for a number of years yet.

I agree, and in my head this is both lakers being nice giving you a new opportunity instead of you staying on in the rebuild and spurs getting you for experience, skills and to entice nobbers to stay

But I find it really funny that Lakers go all in on a rebuild (unless they signed some non cafite) while giving away their next 1st round pick. Prolly would’ve been a good trade for spurs without getting the pick.

Also in my head you are now our Kareem (without scoring skill…)

Based on this thread in general its impossible

And it will be great for him to witness the real goat

Yeah you better hope I ain't Toronto Hakeem

New breed is ridiculous.

Also Memphis has fecked sontodevil development with shit coaching staff.

Not sure why all the newbies have so high potentials. But you could see what happened when Heine didn't improve immediately: the potential dropped a lot. I don't think overall rating is weighted differently for different ages, but if it is that could explain why since so many of your generation were great three point shooters in an era when 3 point shooting was just starting to increase. That's modelled in the game, at least. Players take a lot more threes now than they did at the start of the simulation.

Auch, I dislike that potential hit...

Weeweetee going 1st looks just about correct now. Nice to see Sonius with a +7, great C pair on the team. And Nobbers going from star to super star is great for the team

Weeweetee and Lil V'O a scary pair

And disgustingly, you guys have the lowest payroll in the league. But your challenge is that Nobbers has just one year on his contract, and he will leave if you don't have a good season. The good news is that there's a pretty big +5 modifier for "Eager to sign rookie contract", so you probably don't need to win the league or anything.

Don't leave us Nobbers! Don't be like your father and leave to be the lone star on a team
Also, we have Lakers 1st round pick next season, and they are second to last in power ranking. Bad historical draft thought, best i Brown I believe? I feel like Ben Simmons not really fits the team, and not a big Ingram fan.

Not that strong. Jaylen brown is 42/59 here, since it bases rookies on their rookie season.

Nobbers wont nob out to some backwater shithole like his pops.

15/16 Season Preview - Part 2 & 3
15/16 Season Preview Part 2

I can't separate it into East and West, there's just too many of you in the West now. So here:

@sebsheep @oneniltothearsenal @altodevil @weetee @hobbers @Solius @Salt Bailly @V.O. @Heine

SebJr - Miami Heat (51-31, 2nd Round)
ckmaxPB.png

pMQLPAd.png

SebJr is turning into quite a good player. He's not quite a superstar, and he might never be, but he's playing at a very high level nonetheless. The Heat did quite well last year. Can they replicate it again this season? They didn't get worse, and have a very deep team, so it's certainly possible

Two Nil - Toronto Raptors (28-54)
uwrTtDj.png

dbt0knJ.png

Two Nil is yet to have that one big growth spurt, but he's still got plenty of time. He's also playing at a very high level despite his middling overall rating. It's almost like he's designed by someone who watches a lot of basketball. His dad was the king of Triple Doubles, but our man is not quite there yet. Nor are the Raptors, to be honest. Not bad, not great.

sontodevil - Memphis Grizzlies (39-43, 2nd Round)

ZTBYBJz.png

0WyMcqJ.png

sontodevil is turning into a very good player indeed. It'll be very interesting to see how he'll manage to deal with the departure of Solius. Solius was old, yes, but a great scorer - and that's the one thing sontodevil can't really do. If his team can pick up the slack, the Grizzlies could have a decent season. The West is ever so strong, though.

weetee - Golden State Warriors (35-47)

eFqXkvB.png

cxkAAau.png

weetee is aging quite gracefully. He was never the player with the highest overall rating, or the player who put up the highest numbers, but at 35 he's still playing at a reasonably high level. I don't know if it was intentional, but he seems to be the player they invented the word "intangibles" for. He's presently out of the Warriors starting 5, but he's close enough to get a lot of playing time.

Pepper Bailly & Salt Bailly (40-42, 1st Round)

gg69UfK.png

zvWVQkq.png

gWwoIjf.png

It's almost enough to bring a tear to the eye. Father and son united, as their opposing career trajectories intersect. Salt Bailly is probably a lock for the Hall of Fame, and he probably won't have to wait too long to find out. In the meantime he can mentor his son, Pepper Bailly, who is on the cusp of superstardom. The Kings made the playoffs with a losing record last season, but it's probably going to be harder this season.

Lil' V.O. and weeweetee - Houston Rockets (61-21, 1st Round)

kbNlQ7i.png

Pnt27l1.png

pGQhKcO.png

You know who needed some luck? The 1-seed Houston Rockets. I can only assume so, as they were then handed the #1 pick (for the second time in a row, both at less than 10% chance), so now they're teaming up Lil' V.O. and weeweetee. Their shooting skills match up perfectly, in fact. The Rockets are the favourites to take the top spot in the West again, but this time they've got a pretty serious contender.

Nobbers, Heine, altodevil and Sonius - San Antonio Spurs (28-54)

ti2qdzo.png

altodevil is teaming up with the sons of his arch-rivals Solius and hobbers, to defeat their fathers. It's positively Old Testament. While the old man has lost a lot of what made him the Defensive Player of the Year so many times, he's still probably a top class defender. Nobbers is still the star of the team, and becoming a true superstar, but the Spurs were exceedingly lucky to have two high picks in such a stacked draft.

Heine did that "don't improve in year 1" thing that sometimes happens, and now his potential is merely 85, but he's still sure to make an immediate impact. As will Sonius, though the Spurs will have to work out how the center position is going to work. Two quite different centers, to be fair.

The Spurs were terrible last year. This year? Not terrible. All they need to do to potentially establish a dynasty is to be good enough that Nobbers wants to sign a new contract.

Definitely think one of the secrets to perfecting the growth curve is having a high early endurance.

15/16 Season Preview Part 3

@Samid @P-Nut @Solius @Dan @hobbers @Dr. Dwayne @Stobzilla @BenitoSTARR @reelworld @The Cat

Dan II - Detroit Pistons (45-37)

W5geeHS.png

sx00U6Z.png

Dan II is... well, he's just Dan II, innit? There's not a lot to say here, as it's the exact same situation as last season. The good news is that it's very unlikely that he'll miss the 3 Point Contest due to injury.

hobbers - Boston Celtics (66-16, Conference Finals)

KIkNh5c.png

7tvkXIc.png

That's the biggest stat decrease hobbers has seen yet. Of course, that means he's 37 years old and still one of the 10 test players in the league. Easily. The Celtics aren't quite the juggernauts they were last season, but then neither are the Wizards. They're still really, really good. Of course, suddenly the West is stronger than it has been in ages, so getting through the East might not be enough for a ring.

Dr. Junior - Cleveland Cavaliers (36-46)
1mZjDgV.png

m034Zxg.png

I can only assume getting better endurance and basketball IQ is good for rookies, because so many of them do that their first year. Dr. Junior is an immediately good player in any case, and his Cavaliers are decent. They're lacking that one superstar that they probably need to make a good playoff run, but that might be Dr. Junior in a few years.

Stobzilla II and BenitoSTARR - New York Knicks (34-48)

R9lcPBm.png

v0hRrsP.png

AUxacYo.png

BenitoSTARR is not the man hammer he once was. The handle is a bit cracked, and the head is getting rusty. He's still perfectly able to put up some stats, but he's not going to be dragging any team to the playoffs on his own. He didn't last year, in any case. Stobzilla II might be picking up some of the slack, though, as he's turning into quite a strong player. Both will need to be good if the Knicks are to have any chance at all of making the playoffs.

reelworld II - Milwaukee Bucks (32-50)

T4YpZol.png

bePqvQp.png

I bet you all forgot about reelworld II. He's still around, and he's improving. At 22 he's already basically a superstar. His challenge is that while the Bucks have an okay starting 5, there's simply nothing else worth talking about in the entire team. The playoffs aren't quite out of the question, but they will need that superstar season from our man.

The Cub and Dr. Dwayne - Oklahoma City Thunder (18-64)
- this is the entire squad. They have their own pick, at least.
oD8P48T.png

IAGG7Xb.png

sM7RKas.png

Oh hey, it's the new worst team in the league. They were the old worst team in the league, and then they got even worse. They have one (1) very good player - The Cub - and then a bunch of nothing. Well, and Dr. Dwayne, but he's practically dead at this point. I think the game is telling us that he should retire, and he might just do it on his own. Of course, a lot of that decline is in speed and jumping, which means he can still score some points. Just don't save it for the playoffs.

Solius - New Orleans Pelicans (19-63)
LAFxqTX.png

K82yv28.png

Solius is just looking to enjoy his last few years, I'm assuming. He managed to convince the Pelicans to pay him massive wages through his 40th birthday. He's still a very good player, mind, particularly considering his decline is largely physical as well. He is going to score a lot of points. Could he score enough points to make the playoffs this year? No, don't be silly.

P-Nut - Denver Nuggets (31-51)

judJmsE.png

hNQgb4h.png

P-Nut is a bit like Solius, just not as old. He's still a very good player, but he's showing clear signs of decline. But he's also still a fantastic shooter in a shooting era, so he's bound to score a lot of points. The Nuggets aren't terrible on paper, but they're lacking depth. It doesn't help that Joel Embiid is going to be out for the entire season. It would take a miracle for them to make the playoffs, but remember when The Cat managed to win that ring on his own? You just have to believe.

Samid - Minnesota Timberwolves (41-41, 1st Round)

DR881Hj.png

x1QmprZ.png

Samid is still Samiding around the league. He actually got a bit better, incredibly. And while he didn't improve enough to see him play a lot of actual basketball, at this point I'm pretty sure he's sustaining his old body solely on the ambition to finally win that 3 Point Contest. I doubt those +3 points in rebounding are going to do much this season, but those +3 points in three pointers might...

Why havent SA tried to trade Alto for hobbers. SA needs a PG. Boston have Westbrook and could use a centre. Win-win?

Sounds like they all need chucked out the hall then. Bunch of nobodies.

He's got 175 career Win Share, which is higher than Shaq, Magic Johnson, Hakeem Olajuwon, Larry bird and Dan. So yeah, he's for sure making the Hall of Fame.
He's never made an all-league team in his career. So at no point was he a top 15 player. Bum.

I fear the only thing I've accomplished with this Experiment is to massively inflate the egos of hobbers and altodevil.

And maybe also Solius, but he's very down to Earth.
Inevitable with my participation

Forget all the crap about the id, ego and superego. All you need is solius, alto and hobbers.

I like how the Spurs management is thinking, adding 2 3p shooters (Richardson and Tskitsishvili) to our cafites. Could've wished for using that cap space to add a bit more depth considering that we have to see Rockets as our rival, and their depth is awesome.
6-1 start though, can't complain about that. I guess over a full season (barring injuries) Rockets will get 1st seed and we can get 2nd seed. Their depth should take care of that. Then we just need to show up in the playoffs.
Could be that the management is smarter than I think and are showing Nobbers that they have the money to keep him, and can will be able to compete when paying him.

I guess it might've been smart to take a bit more Endurance on my guy, but he got quick-twitch muscles  Seems like I'm playing a bit less minutes (make sense with the endurace) but quite effictive in those minutes.

I also see a worrying tactic other teams can use against us, they can go "hack a spurs" , we got to have the worst Free Throw shooting squad in the league. Then again all our cafites are big lanky athletic defenders (Do I understand it right with the tags, tried to understand them from the first updates? With (A) Athletic, (Di) Internal Defence and (Dp) Perimeter Defence). Altodevils Lakers teams used him as a defensive anchor, here he have 3 other great defenders that he can order around. We should be a nightmare to score on, hopefully the anti team to the modern 3p spamming teams. And then we do a fast break with Alto being our slowest Cafite. Forget the Showtime Lakers, this is the Showtime Spurs!
