And I'm all out of bubblegum 9️⃣
Looking at team finances, I'd say the potential market for The Cub (and maybe Dan II) looks like

  • Clippers (no massive talents to re-sign, but couldn't get a massive contract)
  • Lakers (most likely if Dan II leaves, or else isn't paid too much)
  • Minnesota
  • New York (probably not)
  • Oklahoma City (they have a lot of money, what can I say )
  • Sacramento
  • Utah (probably not)
How many left from the first generation @nimic?

Should do another stat bonanza when the last of us die out.
You (39), hobbers (39), Solius (38), BenitoSTARR (36), P-Nut (33).

17/18 End of Regular Season

@BenitoSTARR @Dan @Dr. Dwayne @P-Nut @Salt Bailly @Skizzo @Solius @Stobzilla @The Cat @V.O. @altodevil @hobbers @oneniltothearsenal @reelworld @sebsheep @weetee @Heine

I'll show all the playoff squads in a playoff preview post tomorrow, I reckon. Just so you know what you're up against.

Final standings

The West is tough! BenitwoSTARRLET & P-Nut miss out on 41-41, though they only have themselves to blame after going 10-15 to close out the season. The same can tentatively be said for Pepper Bailly's Timberwolves and The Cub's Thunder, though they would both need more to get over the line in the end. Solius is laughing all the way to the bank, enjoying some bouillabaisse.

Above the line we've got Dan II, whose Lakers really need to turn around their form if they want to have any chance at avoiding embarrassment in the playoffs. Particularly since they'll be up against the San Antonio Spurs and Nobbers, Heine, Sonius and altodevil - who have all had very good seasons as well. Though not good enough to catch up to the Rockets in #1. weeweetee, Lil' V.O. and hobbers have won their last 18 games, and gone 23-1 since the All Star break. Scary.

Finally we have sontodevil and the Grizzlies. He's had a monster season personally, and honestly 46-36 is a great record in a super stacked West. There are no good 2nd Round match-ups, but he would probably have not chosen to meet the Spurs for the 3rd time running. That's assuming they get past the very stacked Phoenix Suns, of course.

The East is a bit of a sad sight. Only three Cafites made it above the line, and two of those, Dr. Junior and BenitoSTARR started the season much better than they ended it. reelworld II is back in with the Bucks, with the same seed as last year - though a better record. That time he managed to drag them to the 2nd Round.

Below the line we've got Two Nil and Stobzilla II... again! They're two great players who had great seasons, but I guess the Knicks were all tapped out after the BenitoSTARR champion years. SebJr's Heat were on to something in the end, but it ultimately wasn't quite enough. Skizzlet is the final Cafite in the East, and being the youngest he's got every reason not to be too bothered about finishing 4th last. Particularly when he was dead last at the All Star break.

Well, that’s not surprising since I was injured for a couple of games as was lilVO. Hope we stay healthy in the play-offs.

Would be hilarious if old man hobbers wins his first title and can‘t even brag about it.

Houston looking downright scary. This might be their year. We might even have Wizards knocked out early considering that injury on KD...

Looks like we have had some injuries during the season. Nobbers 60 games, I had 68 games. So missed some. Hopefully we are all ready to give Rockets a fight in the playoffs and reach our third final. Hopefully take our second ring before we might get broken up on our wage demands :/

Emotional return to LA for me.

That Houston team is broken though. No doubt way better than the Lakers dynasty team. Different era's though.

They have the highest MOV (margin of victory) since we started, beating out your Spurs team from last year and your Lakers team from 2011 in joint 2nd. But they haven't shown themselves to be a playoff team yet.

We‘re extra motivated against Utah. At least I am. Going to be a bloodbath.

Didn't realise Utah had Derrick Rose - he's has fallen off a cliff since carrying Big V.O. to his ring, and he's just 30.

That'll do, pig. Time to move over.

2-0 to all the favourites. This could be the quickest Round 1 ever. Nobbers puts up an incredible 54 points, and Dan II suffers a slight injury.

reelworld II: 22/3/18 (1stl)

Grizzlies get one back! sontodevil decided he isn't getting swept for the third playoffs in a row. We have to say good bye to Dan II and reelworld II, however. Both played about as well as could be expected (and sometimes better), but their teams weren't quite up to it.

Phoenix Suns (3)
76
98
Memphis Grizzlies (2)
sontodevil: 8/21/8 (2stl/1blk)
Cleveland Cavaliers (4) WIN!
Dr. Junior: 7/2/1 (1stl)
BenitoSTARR: 10/1/1

Philadelphia 76ers (1) LOSE!

The Cavs close it out against the 76ers, but the Grizzlies refuse to give up!

Phoenix Suns (3)
74
98
Memphis Grizzlies (3)
sontodevil: 4/21/13 (2stl/4blk)

We're going to game 7!

Phoenix Suns (4) WIN!
122
109
Memphis Grizzlies (3) LOSE!
sontodevil: 5/22/14 (4stl/1blk)

Heartbreak! We all know it would have probably ended in defeat in the next round anyway, versus the Spurs, but sontodevil would surely have liked to have the chance to beat his old man, at least.

Only three Cafite-teams left, but those teams have a total of 9 Cafites on them. I fully expect Houston and San Antonio to meet in the Conference Finals (though Phoenix have a very deep team), but Toronto might be difficult for the Cleveland boys on the other side of the bracket. They'll need a vintage BenitoSTARR performance.

Houston will sweep and gift hobbers a token ring before retirement.

sontodevil taking the 3rd best team in the league to 7 games is otherworldly.

Toronto Raptors (1)
117
109
Cleveland Cavaliers (0)
Dr. Junior: 20/5/0 (1stl/2blk)

Easy victories for all the favourites - except Washington, who have been struck by injuries.

Houston Rockets (2)

Cleveland Cavaliers (0)

Dr. Junior and BenitoSTARR got very close to evening it up, but alas it's 0-2.

Houston Rockets (2)
weeweetee: 22/10/3 (3stl/1blk)
Lil' V.O.: 17/22/6 (1stl/5blk)
hobbers: 9/4/10 (1stl/1blk)

Toronto Raptors (3)
123
116
Cleveland Cavaliers (0)
Dr. Junior: 12/4/0 (1stl/1blk)
BenitoSTARR: 11/6/1 (1stl)

Another pretty close game for Cleveland. Houston drop their first game, so the prohibitive favourites won't sweep.

Houston Rockets (3)
weeweetee: 27/1/4
Lil' V.O.: 13/16/2 (2stl/5blk)
hobbers: 12/4/12 (1stl)
128
117
Golden State Warriors (1)
San Antonio Spurs (3)
Nobbers: 27/6/3 (2stl/1blk)

Toronto Raptors (4) WIN!
118
110
Cleveland Cavaliers (0) LOSE!
Dr. Junior: 23/6/3 (2stl/4blk)
BenitoSTARR: 8/2/1

That's the end of the playoffs for the Cleveland lads. Dr. Junior and BenitoSTARR are on an improving team, so there's every chance they'll be back next year. Spurs drop their first game as well.

Houston Rockets (4) WIN!
weeweetee: 26/2/10 (2stl/3blk)
Lil' V.O.: 10/15/4 (1stl/4blk)

hobbers: 21/4/9 (1stl)
121
99
Golden State Warriors (1) LOSE!
San Antonio Spurs (4) WIN!
Nobbers: 35/3/8 (5stl)
Heine: 16/3/7
Sonius: 18/16/1 (3blk)
altodevil: 6/13/4 (2stl/3blk)
127
86
Phoenix Suns (1) LOSE!

Those results mean we'll have the expected Rockets vs Spurs match-up in the Conference Finals! The only thing that remains is to see who will be playing Toronto over in the East.

It'll be Washington against Toronto! Last year we basically crowned the Spurs after they made it through the West, but the Wizards proved that they're not done yet. Will we see the same this year? Or maybe Houston will finally make it to the NBA Final?

I fear this is the end, they are too strong. Godlike even.

I reckon they could rattle off 4+ very quickly.

2018 Playoffs Conference Finals

@weetee @V.O. @hobbers @Heine @Solius @altodevil

First game goes to the Rockets, despite a 54-point game by Nobbers! Though hobbers goes out with a strained foot. He'll still play, but no doubt at a reduced level.

It's all even.

Advantage San Antonio! Another monster game by Nobbers. His GameScore of 49.1 is higher than all other Spurs players plus two Houston starters combined. That's the third highest Playoff GameScore by a Cafite ever, after Solius in 2009 and reelworld II earlier in these playoffs!

Oof, so many missed shots by the Rockets. Maybe giving 34 shots to Biyombo, Miles and Connaughton isn't the best way to win Conference Finals.

Crazy! Not even having all five starters scoring 18 or more was enough to defeat the Spurs, who take the series 4-1. This time the Rockets can't blame their shooting. I guess this is what happens when a 59% career free throw shooter goes 15-18 from the line.

It's a repeat final: Spurs vs Wizards! That makes three in a row. The first one was won 4-3 by the Spurs, while last year was won 4-1 by the Wizards. Washington look more vulnerable than in a while, though. On the other hand, Sonius will be playing the first few matches with a sprained shoulder.
