feck you this film is amazing. How has it not been mentioned on here, apart from a lone comment in the movie review thread?! This is what I want from an action film, I need to re-watch it. Martial arts perfection. Best film of 2012 for me so far.

Random fact the director is welsh.

Random fact. When they were shooting the fights scenes the director would clap out a beat with his hands, to give a rhythmic flow to the action.

Yes, they're planning to release a clap-along-a-raid with on screen prompts. Similar to the sing-along-a sound of music.

I saw that in the credits and chuckled. Appazza the lead actor was just a student and a driver before being spotted by the director in a school he was shooting a documentary in.

Apart from the quality fight scenes, loved the scene where they were hiding in the man's apartment behind the wall.

It's fantastic.

It cost $1,100,000 to make too, and apparently it wasn't even the directors first choice, he wanted to make a different film but he didn't have the $3,000,000 to make it, so he wrote this script as a prequel instead

Needless to say they have the money for the sequel now!

You can check Merantau as well, it's a level tonned down , but the fights are roughly like this.

If you like action hectic, check out the following:
crows zero I and II, chocolate (thai movie about a kickass autistic 14yo girl)

I was forced to watch the version dubbed in English. It is not wise to dub every grunt and moan. Completely takes you out of the moment.

If there was ever a film that didn't require dubbing... it would surely be this one. As you could probably watch it in Indonesian without, English subtitles, and still understand everything that's happening perfectly well.
