I looked up Sebastian Abreu on Wikipedia - and noticed that he had changed clubs almost 40 times in his 25 year long career (he did play for some clubs 2 times) . For instance in 2008 he played for 4 different clubs. The longest he ever stayed at one club was 93 matches in just over 2 seasons for Botafogo - and he was generally a prolific goalscorer in most of the clubs. He ended up with 338 goals in 700 matches and even played 70 times for Uruguay scoring 26 goals.

Which players in England played for the most clubs - any suggestions ?

Lee Trundle has about 20 clubs on his resume, granted mostly in the lower leagues

Steve Claridge played for a lot of clubs

Rohan Ricketts (once of Spurs) had a bizarre career after leaving Spurs and turned out in some obscure leagues like Bangladesh, Ecuador, Moldova, Thailand, Hong Kong to name just a few.

Seemed like his MO was to go to a random country, score one goal, then feck off.

Not in England, but Inter was the only club where Christian Vieri stayed more than one season.

Rivaldo joined a bunch of clubs.
oh yes, you name it; probably gone and done it. swingers clubs, cucking groups, guys on girls club, guys on guys, the kkk, black panthers, hitler youth v2 (doodlebugs regiment,) neo-nazis, freemasons, the jews. done them all.

Not as much as Rivaldo or Abreu, but from high profile players Ibra mainly and a bit Tevez changed quite a lot.

PD: Kempes carreer since the mid 80's became quite bizarre.

Bellamy? Norwich, Coventry, Newcastle, Blackburn, West Ham, Liverpool, Man City, Cardiff

He's still playing in the Welsh divisions - and still moves clubs every year

Not a player, but I'd be surprised if anyone can beat Tom Saintfiet as a manager.

So far he's managed clubs in the Belgian, Dutch, Faroese, Qatari, German, Finnish, Jordanian, Tanzanian and South African leagues... The national teams of Namibia, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Yemen, Malawi, Togo, Bangladesh, Trinidad, Malta, Gambia, the Philippines, Mali, and Qatar U17s.

The bloke is only in his early 50s as well, so he could probably double his list.

Managerial career for Kempes was interesting too

Jermaine Defoe got around a bit, although he seemed to go back to every club he played for at least once, so maybe not loads of clubs but lots of transfers

Marcus bent...charlton, Blackburn, Everton, Ipswich, Leicester, palace, wigan, wolves

Playing for my local welsh league team last I heard. Still absolutely class at that level apparently, even though he can barely move.

I trained against him and Kristian O'Leary a few years back. As a lifetime non league player I thought I'd give everything I had to getting a few tackles in where I could. Couldn't get near the feckers and they were barely trying.

Eye opener indeed.

Andrew Cole played for at least 10 clubs.

I think John Burridge has the most in English football, 30 clubs over his almost 30 year career. Played in the PL at 43 and still signed for another 11 teams after that.

Only one winner here: Jefferson Louis. Just take a look at the list of clubs on his Wikipedia
