The Nike Kit... I need some reactions

Hey all...
I am a United supporter in Canada... And I had some questions for you all.

I am doing a piece for my university paper, on the changing look of football, and how big corporations are starting to take over.

Anybody got a reaction that they would like to give about Nike buying the rights to the United Kit? Is it a bad thing that a huge company is slowly buying the rights to the worlds best teams?Does it change the game at all? Does it even matter?

I wanted some real fan reactions. And this seemed like the place to ask.

Any responses would be appreciated, and I would credit you in the article.

Oh yeah, does anyone know the exact date when Nike bought the contract?

Cheers

I think the first reaction you will get is from the moderators who will delete your multiple posts on the subject in the other forums.

As for the kit: It's ok.

All top teams have a kit sponsor. Ours is just the biggest financial deal. So what?

Well Pogo I wouldn't know, I didn't buy the kit nor ever will while Nike are our kit sponsors. They are the biggest shower of unethnical Baxtards, and they are fully aware that their factories throughout the eastern parts of the world break almost every rule of civilised human stadards of living - and to make it worse, these strict rules of produce are placed upon kids ! I don't expect this to effect some on the caf, but any of you with kids above the age of 8........

......well place them in a factory in Eastern parts of the world and see how long you would allow for their treatment. I'd say no longer than 10 minutes.

I'm not telling people they should or should not buy the Nike kit - what I am saying is I hate them, they'll burn in hell, and I personally refuse to buy produce from a company that has morals as low as Nike.

If you want me to elaborate by all means email me. PM me for the address

The kit looks ok, I'm certainly not going to go and buy one due to the cost of it, but on a whole it looks alright.

To be honest on a short term wave length, the amount of money which Nike has pumped into the club is a good thing, on a long term basis, if Nike slowly started taking over the worlds best clubs such as Manchester United then one day there will be a point where everything will go through them, for example, Nike may not agree to Manchester United buying a particular player as it won't do the image of Nike any favours, and eventually will be compleltly in control of the club by buying shares...

It all depends on how you look at it

:)

The home Nike kit is shite. It's paper thin and has no collar and looks like it's been put together by an 8 year old in a needlework class. 40 quid? I wouldn't pay 40p for it!

I have no moral objections to Nike taking over kit sponsorship (although I probably should), but I think their style's crap and I fear we are going to be saddled with ugly kits for the next 20 years or so.

Sorry, this probably won't help your thesis, but I really hate Nike on sartorial grounds.

Well I dont have any great problem with the kit being made by Nike, i think it looks alright and personally i thought the material of it was an improvement on some of the older ones.

More so to the point of your question, I cant see any real problem with Nike having the rights to many of the worlds great clubs, if they want to pour money into clubs and into football it can only be good for the game in many senses.

In reality there are very few strip makers around and none of them are capable of competing with Nike, if Nike wants a club they will generally get them and this of course will lead to them monopolising the kit market, i guess its possible Nike could get themselves into a position where they will virtually control kit prices however if the go silly no one will pay it so its a much of a muchness.

The one thing i felt bad about was local company and long time kit creator Umbro, i dont know if they even do anyone elses kits now? what happens to them without there meal ticket Man Utd?

hope thats of some use.
