I want to preface this by saying I like Ragnick and I really hope he gets a prominent role overseeing the direction this club moves in the summer and over the next few years. That is undoubtably his best role and one that I think he could provide some brilliant support for the next manager.
All that being said, he’s an absolutely appalling manager. This is easily the worst coached, trained and motivated group of players I’ve ever seen. We will see some new faces over the summer with others heading out which will certainly freshen up the squad but at the moment this group of players all look League Two quality and most of the blame in that instance does have to fall upon the manager.
That leads me onto my point. The next manager has such a ridiculously simple job. Fan expections will be at the lowest point in our history where all we will need to see next season is some minor improvement and the beginning of a style developing. If the new manager can even get half of a tune out of some of these players (Bruno, Rashford, Varane etc) then that will instantly improve us beyond this point. If he can get just one signing to come in and have an impact, again that will have a sizeable impact. The longer term job is more challenging as eventually we will need to see decent football and results and ultimately trophies but with where this team is currently, most Utd fans will just need to see minor signs over the next couple years. Any manager worth his salt should handle that easily. So despite the current despair and talk of disaster, I truly think this is the easiest big job available over the next couple seasons.
