Now come on lads. I know I'm a scouser, but I've watched all of your games this season in the prem. I'm happy to give credit where it's due..

e.g. O'Shea - good young talent. A ral find
Scholes - simply your best and most consistent player.

But VERON???? 8/10, 7/10, 8/10 from Murt? I mean this is taking red-tainted glasses to the extreme. I have watched Veron play like a prima donna for 2 seasons. He's a terrible distributor of the ball, and is scared shitless to make a tackle. He never scores (zero return in the prem this season) and has had more playing time than ever.

The man is a total failure..... but then am I expecting too much from Murt. After all, he does seem a little 'off base' in many of his opinions.

love, other red.

murt did quote his previous ratings where he gave Veron 5/10.. get your facts straight before you bullshit.

and yes, i agree with lover of football, if you had a player of veron's calibre in your team you would still be in the CL.

Murt's as entitled to show his support for a player as the rest of us.

We might not agree, and we might say so, but so what. It will be Murt laughing if Seba really comes good - and if he doesn't, well fair play to Murt for showing a bit of loyalty. There's not a lot of it about.

Love Livvie. ;)

Yeah, Murt and I stand on almost exactly the same spot when it comes to Verón.

Sounds cosy Weaste. Those rumours might start up again if you're not careful. :)

You really believe that?

If they had a player of his calibre they'd be fighting to avoid relegation right now

of course.

considering we screwed up defensively and let in 3 really soft goals away to basle, i can see exactly how veron would have remedied that.

im not saying veron would have or wouldnt have but the game that cost you was basle at home where you were all over them and couldnt find a killer pass, if you had someone LIKE veron then maybe you would have.

Veron came with a massive reputation and everyone couldnt wait to see what he could do....

...unfortunately we're still waiting!

He's improving, but still tends to disappear in the second half of matches. His saving grace has been his European performances. Quite superb in both matches v Olympiakos, and Leverkusen.

Is he better in Europe because the style of play suits him, or more cynically, because he's more in the shop window and it'll help him escape back to Seria A in January ??

Hes our equal top scorer in Europe and has been a contender for MoM in every game in Europe.
Hes was below par in the league season as were all except for Ruud & Keano imo.
This season he has improved slightly and is still not performing much better or worse than those around him.
Hes been excellent in the Europe though. Did you see the 2 goals we got against Leverkusen?

1 Had the ball on the half way line, perfect 50 yard ball to Beckham, squared to Ruud who lays it off to Veron who has covered half the pitchin that short time to deliever a sublime finish.
2 Great ball hit with pace to Scholes who dummies it for Ruud.

I thought he was one of our 3best players last Sunday.

Yeah... he might actually have conjured up a magical volley and given you a fourth. He does that in Europe you know.

Murt mate, I wouldn't waste your breath, there is a "witch" hunt going on here, and they will not stop. You cannot convice them, you cannot put rational argument in front of them, it's a lost cause. (Some stupid comment will follow)

You would think that their minds could be able to metaphorically "change the tune" and go on about something else, but unfortunatly, they are like old 78s, always stuck and repetitive.

Here's the stupid comment:

Veron has played well against a) a Greek team who hadn't played for a month due to a players strike, and who are consistently shite in Europe and b) Leverkuson who sold half their team after last season to make ends meet.

In the premiership he is garbage. Improving? When? I honestly don't see it. If he played for Liverpool you would ALL be one voice saying how shite he is.

He is one of the key reasons that you finished miles behind Arsenal last season, and 4 points behind Liverpool and are already 9 points and 8 points respectively, behind them again.

He's one of our key players in Europe, but for some bizarre reason, can't fully get to grips with the Premiership. If an Italian club come sniffing around with £15-20M spare (and providing Butt and Keano are back), we should offload Seba and buy a much needed 4th striker.

As I have said before, I still have doubts about Veron`s being able to cut it in the Premiership as a consistent performer who can do what he was bought to do - make a difference not only in Europe but also in domestic games.

HOWEVER, I think some of the criticism of Seba is wide of the mark. A few posters in various threads on this board have accused him of being disinterested, etc, but I can`t agree. I think the man is burning to make a difference but he has come into a United side that is under-performing drastically compared to the last silverware winning season.

Sure, his inclusion seems to unbalance the side at times but I think MU`s players are good enough to move out of their comfort zone and accommodate new styles of playing. That a number of them haven`t come to grips with that yet cannot be blamed on Seba.

I don`t go to Old Trafford (I can`t) but watching the games on tv, I don`t see Seba acting lacklustre or as if he doesn`t care a la Dwight Yorke in his last games with us. Seba`s problem is the team`s problem and until everyone performs more capably, he will remain at a certain level.

I think he is not yet used to the rough and tumble of the Premiership but I am willing to give the man a chance. I don`t agree with those who accuse Sir Alex of buying a luxury player for Europe (that was not his intent) but I think Seba`s contribution in Europe so far should be acknowledged.

I also think that article defending the Nevilles was good except for the dig at Seba as one of the players who don`t care about the domestic league or smaller games a la Chelsea`s prima donnas. Seba, from my observation, cares about playing well and contributing domestically but he is being hamstrung by his own inexperience in the Premiership as well as too frequent mediocrity in Manchester United`s playing style this season.
