Anyone here currently/formerly an MMO gamer?

Currently: Age of Conan
Formerly: WoW, SWG, Planetside, EQII, City of Heroes.

On the topic, any MMOs in production caught your eye?

After months of trying to convince me, I eventually agreed to me my mate to try WoW, got bored after the first day. The only RPG in general that ever held my attention long enough was FFX

These games take some time getting into, the concepts can be overwhelming at first but if you can get past the first few levels, and better even if you can get an experienced friend to guide you along it should draw you in.

Wouldnt recommend it though, addiction levels can be worrying.

Are there any decent one's you don't have to pay per month?

Sadly no, the trend states that if its free, its probably shite.

But if you dont like paying every month or using a credit card or whatever then just buy a game card.

I think that Anarchy online is still free though, was a great game years ago but abit old now. Theyve removed any sort of suscription fees for the basic game, look it up.

Thanks I'll have a look, not really bothered about paying by card, I just don't think I'd get my moneys worth. I suppose to get the best out of the games you have to put in the hours anyway, got a couple of friends who play warcraft all the time.

Played Eve Online for a few months a while back.

Got sick of paying for something that just really wasn't that much fun so left it.....was addictive for a while but a bit too long haul for me

EVE was brilliant to play when you just wanted to sit back with a drink. Great game but requires a HELL of a lot of commitment, still its completely different from any other MMO out there.

Hehe yeah

Usually when i played i just chilled out with a few beers and steadily made some money.

Your right though, too much commitment....i came across players in there that ran 4 different accounts which would not only cost quite a bit but they must seriously put in hours and hours every day

I'd love it if they could remake Planetside with more structure, that game had incredible potential. Shame it was spoiled by pointless battles and zerg warfare!

I played DAoC for a while, but got bored of the grind. Felt more like a job than a game!

Shit you played planetside? mate I whored that game to death.

Did you play on Werner? and what was your characters name?

Yeah I played for the NC on werner, I think my main username was Emblem. Great game that, shame there wasn't more structure to the fighting. I played for about a year in total, I just got a bit disillusioned with the direction the game was going, especially given sony didn't seem to care much about future updates.
