again extracted from Keanos book..

Apparently Yorkie had been exclaiming himself in the paper, how he was going to have a fresh start at United once Fergie had retired...Once Fergie decided to stay, he called a team-meeting to tell the players. According to Keane, most of them were happy, but there was a few slow hand-claps too. As soon as Fergie left the room, a couple turned to Yorkie and said "well, thats you F****d then!"

Lovely.

I wonder who it was that said it? I also wonder who were the ones that clapped. Gary Nev?

This slow handclap business has me baffled. Is this supposed to imply some kind off sarcasm towards Dwight Yorke or what?

I'd imagine the majority clapped...with some issuing a slow hand clap to suggest they weren't best pleased..

I wonder who else was doing it apart from Yorke...surprised Keane hasn't said yet, maybe in the next chapter

Sounds a bit 'something and nothing' if you ask me. Funny nevertheless ;)

This was the only other option I could come up with too. As you say it suggests more than just Yorke though doesn't it? So GB - chop chop next snippet please.

I think it may have been a little sarcasm from the players as if to say "knew youd stay" as apparently Fergie laughed when they did it, then turned and told them all to F*** off.

Read this in yesterday's paper. The exact quote from Keane wasn't that there was a slow hand clap, it went more like.....

The boss told us he was staying on. There was all this crap about lads crying and that. That didn't happen. He told us he was staying and went to walk out of the room. A couple of the lads started to clap and SAF turned around and said "feck Off" to us!! Then someone turned to Yorkie and said thats you fecked then.

A lot different than a slow hand clap wouldn't you agree?

must dig out the paper i had read it in, because im sure there was a mention of a slow handclap in there as well..
