Prolifik Tactics

We will line up in a flexible 4-1-3-2 formation, which can be adapted function as a regular 4-4-2 or a diamond as the need arises. "The invisible wall" Gilberto shields the back four, while his Arsenal midfield partner Fàbregas is the creative fulcrum. Key to this setup are the two energetic midfield all-rounders Valverde and Stanković, who are equally comfortable as box-to-box midfielders and out-and-out wingers - in my system, they will play as a kind of hybrid between the two. Valverde is more of a direct, pacy runner, while Stanković offers more guile and creativity, and both provide dangerous long-range shooting in the bargain. Out of possession, they will either tuck infield to support Cesc and Gilberto, or spread out to cover the flanks, depending on out the opposition lines up.

Up front, Ronaldo plays his late-2010s role as a striker who sometimes drifts out left, rather than an orthodox wide forward. Raúl is the kind of strike partner Ronaldo needs: intelligent, hard-working, unselfish, excellent off the ball, and a deadly finisher in his own right.

The defence is airtight with G**ín the old-fashioned stopper and Bonucci more of the "ball-playing centre-back" archetype, while Cole is the best left-back of his generation. Cancelo has more of an attacking brief on the right, and will be covered by Valverde during his attacking forays. Navas is a safe pair of hands between the posts.

We will sit in a medium block with the pressure intensifying once the opposition gets into the midfield area. Raúl drops back to create a numbers advantage in the middle, while Ronaldo stays high to keep the opposition centre-backs wary of the counter-attacking threat. Once we win the ball, the vision and passing range of Cesc and Stanković, combined with the pace and clever movement of Ronaldo and Raúl, should make for some devastating transitions.

Zlatan 7 Tactics

442 attacking with Beckham able to drop into a midfield 3 if under too much pressure.

A right side of Beckham feeding balls onto vieri, seems a lethal combination to me. Then a left side of the skill and flair of vinscius on the left.

Griezmann a hard working forward who can link up the attack to midfield

Cambiasso and kante running the midfield

I think Cristiano can decide this on his own especially going against that Zlatan back line. Nesta will have too much to deal with trying to cover for Neville as well as having to pay attention to Raúl.

I went with Prolifik. Prefer Zlatan's midfield, but Raul vs Evans seems like a real problem.

pro team is better but feck me thats a nice 442! A bit better cb then evans(and i always rated him) and a better striker then bobo who i dont really rate and pro would be in trouble!

Was a bit surprised to see Azpilicueta as left back, mainly remember him as right back or right sided defender, but maybe I have not watched him enough, where/when did he play that?

Edit: checking transfermarkt he has played there loads I guess, but I have completely blanked that from my mind

Good team pro.

I think, as often happens my team is a more cohesive setup but you have one or two WC players (Ronaldo) that can swing votes or be a game changer.

I think vieri is obviously not as well though of but he was lethal in the air and with Beckham pinpointing balls into him that his a sure route to goal.
There’s also great chance of wing overloads using my full backs against your single fullback.

Amused myself thinking of the different versions.

- Arsenal was where he pretended to be a CM but was actually an AM.
- Chelsea he was a DLP type.
- Barca I don't think even Cesc knew what he was. I'll go with False 7.

False 7

How would you describe Fabregas's role at Arsenal? From memory I'd say he was an attacking B2B.

Think he had that season there when Chelsea won the league again under Mourinho.

I'd say he started his career as a CM (8) that was good at controlling tempo and as he got older he moved further up the pitch into more of a "false 10" by the time he left for Barca.
