Yes, I totally agreed
After Mike promoted to coach first team ... Results are great :p

dare ia i say when steve maclaren came in dec 98 ??? we didn't lose a game for the rest of the season - and look what happened then !!!!!

I think I first suggested this here<a href="http://www.redcafe.info/forum/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=010249" target="_blank">Mike Phelan</a>

But he has been first team coach all season - SAF said this last week.

although he has been looking after the reserves, he is actually working with the first team most of the time as the reserves are made up of fringe first teamers and U19's that Brian McClair looks after.

This resurgence is purely about desire, determination and responsibility. the players have shown all these things in abundence in the last fews weeks and many players are playing at the top of there game, e.g. Fabien, GNev, PNev, Golden, Mickey and Scholes. Another key ingredient is that Veron has played well or not played.

I'm sure he's helped, and if he has played his part SAF deserves the credit for yet another shrewd move.

But I think we simply hit rock bottom (by our standards) and bounced back in typical style.

Like Giggs said "We knew it now or never, and the players sometimes need that challenge" (not an exact quote, but that sentiment)

After Siddy it was roll sleaves up, and get stuck in time. Results breed confidence, and confidence brings luck.

Now we can really start to play again. Look out West Ham, it could get ugly :D

Indeed, Manc, the bottomline is this: whoever is managing, no one can force them to get a spirit to play again. It has to come from inside. A manager can only do so much to motivate. It is down to the performers to pick themselves up. And our players have done that in the most absolute terms.
