The Lion King

Aladdin was always my favorite.

didn't like the songs in the Lion King - It's Hamlet by the way, and its ripped off of a Japanese show back in the 60s called Kimba or something

Disney have made tons of classic cartoons its amazing actually. There have been three great periods when these have been made, 40s, mid 70s and the early 90s. Of the modern generation you have to say The Lion King is the best, followed closely by Alladin, Beauty and The Beast, The Little Mermaid, etc...

But you can't rule out the classic Disneys from the 40s to 70s; Bambi, Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Dumbo, Lady and The Tramp, Cinderella, The Rescuers, Robin Hood, etc...

Mine as well...

In todays age, there will NEVER be a "best" animated film because each one ousts the others in terms of the technology.

Out of order probably but it started with Toy Story, and the likes of Wall-E, Nemo, Madagascar, Ice Age, Shrek, Cars, Kung-Fu Panda... the list goes on of "best" animated films.

Lion King ranks easily, but is it the best ever? Impossible to tell.

On second thoughts its mighty close between Aladdin & the Jungle book...But i'd still go for Aladdin cos i actually went cinema to see it..

I lost respect for the Lion King after i found out it was ripped off the japs..

The story's Hamlet but the animators stole all the animation ideas off a Japanese show called Kimba the White Lion...Check it

Of the Pixar films Id say Toy Story and Shrek were my favourites. But none of them compare to the ones I saw in the 70s as a kid. Jungle Book, 101 Dalmations, Sword and the Stone, all marvelous.

Checked this out on Wikipedia (Having not heard of it) & the company that the Lion King was basically stolen from thought it was an "Honor" to have inspired such a great film.

Strange, funny, silly Japaneese

I think The Lion King is one of Disney's last great films but it wouldn't make my top 5 Disney films, let alone the whole of animation.

Dumbo
Cinderella
Jungle Book
Beauty and the Beast
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
Aristocats
Pinocchio
etc.

Then films from Pixar, Aardman and Ghibli (amongst others) would all rate higher than The Lion King.

Edit: I actually really like James and the Giant peach. Another Burton/Selick animation The Nightmare before Christmas would be in with a shout of best animation film.

Sheeeeet..Dumbo was great. It was the first Disney film i ever saw i think. The Elephants on parade freaked me out!

I used to watch Kimba the White Lion when i was a kid. Obviously dubbed into English.

Robin Hood is probably my favourite

does anyone remember the old Mega Drive games for The Lion King and Alladin, they were great

They were indeed! I had them saved on my PC, had to press F7 at the start up screen to play them, cant remember how we did that but it was annoying as you could never save the game, I never did complete either of them because of this but i did get to the last level of the Lion King one amazing day untill we had a power cut. To say I was annoyed is an under statement.

Yes Elvis it was.

I loved the lion King, Toy Story is great too.
