Yet again, old Larry was absolutely immense at the back. Won every header, good interceptions and the calm that man is at the back is unbelievable. Did a lovely drag back in his own 6 yard box.
Wes certainly seemed to enjoy playing alongside him today. I think any fan can see that as the season has progressed, our centre backs do seem to be learning from the big man.
That is why, i think he should stay one more season, he certainly looks like he could still do it.

Save Larry! :)

That was a great performance. Solid and reliable, everything he wasn't six/seven months ago. :)

PS: UNITED have just got a belgian CB from ANTWERP on loan .... could be an unexpected replacement come summer see my post in the transfer forum ..... <a href="http://forum.redcafe.net/forum/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic&f=4&t=000435" target="_blank">The "New Jaap Stam"</a>

;)

Imagine how good this guy was 10-15 years ago.

Remember we didn't see a lot of european football in England in those days.

Not as good as he is today. His body isn't better or worse than 10 years ago (as pointed before, he never had pace) but he's just learned and learned more.

He used to be faster, not by much, but he was indeed faster but the big difference is his stamina which obviously isn't as good today...

I think he was at his best at the age of 28-30...

I second that! Occasionally, he does look a little bit, shall we say... overconfident and at times very busy and pacy forwards pose problems - BUT no defender is perfect and his ability to read the game like an open book (and he always seems to be two or three chapters ahead of anybody else) is a joy to behold. He should definitely stay on for one more year and learn the kids a thing or two about defensive composure.

I agree...one with the brains and the other the brawn...

I said after his debut against Everton he was good, after he was written off by near enough everyone before he'd even kicked a ball and everyone was saying shit like Ferguson (duncan) was gunna eat him alive and it was the other way round because Blanc had him in his pocket and stopped him at everything and even Stam had trouble dealing with Ferguson (again duncan ;) )
Laurent Blanc best centre back for United ever?

I think he's made his mind up, but Fergie stayed on, and that might encourage Larry to do the same - the praise he has got recently is fully deserved. It would not be the end of the world if he quit but he still has a lot to offer.

:D that would certainly work. He could help Silvestre and Mexes (fingers crossed :) ) develop their careers. ;)
