Is it going away any time soon?
I know it's only a matter of appearance but it's fecking the alignment of the rest of the page. - It pushes the rest of the content into narrow tables. It is at least on Safari.

Not sure what you mean exactly?

Prob best to take a screenshot of it.

Never been a problem like that for me... but then I don't use Safari.

It's the Google ad underneath the Firefox logo - the Google ad's format is horizontal instead of vertical and that stretches the sidepanel as the ad is 468 x 60 where as it was probably intended as a skyscraper - Niall probably just added the wrong ad, or made an error when creating the ad in adsense.

I thought the 468x60 ad was below the 5th thread with new posts, as is on mine:

[edit] Oh, wait, there's two...

Actually, I think it's easy to fix: There's an inner <!-- --> (HTML comment) in the <script> tag. Nested HTML comments aren't actually allowed but I guess Firefox kludges it and assumes the user was intending to hide everything within the parent comment. Manually removing the entire Adsense <script> tag should fix this.

Basically, change this:

Code:
<!--<script type="text/javascript"><!--
google_ad_client = "pub-5539813586388740";
google_ad_width = 125;
google_ad_height = 125;
google_ad_format = "125x125_as_rimg";
google_cpa_choice = "CAAQ3deTlwIaCHR-tz9JKxQFKJe193M";
google_ad_channel = "5870785541";
//--></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/show_ads.js">
</script>-->

into:

Code:
<!-- Former Adsense code -->

I checked on IE / Opera and it does what you say.

Doesn't do it for me in Firefox - think I used adblock to block the ad as it doesn't appear - result.

Agreed. Much faster and simpler than Outlook. But the only downside is that it dont have a calender.

I don't use calendar, but you can use Evolution if you need a calendar along with a damn good mail program.

Thunderbird is nice, use it at home

I tried it I do like it
BUT
if i access e mail from another machine settings and e mails are only on the one machine i originally set it up on, and not the remote one I am using ( say on holiday or at work )
it seems it is only ok if you only access your e mails on one machine, but i want to look at them on my laptop, on holiday, at work etc etc
Am i missing something ( hope so as i like the layout) or is that correct

glad to see another mac user :)

So it's not only on Safari for Mac.
Me switching to Firefox won't solve the problem. The first page of the should appear the same for everybody. It doesn't look pretty nor appealing as it is.

Does Safari ever freeze for a few second for you on the caf or other various website? It does it for me every now and then. I doubt it's my computer, I bought a MacBook Pro in April. Any ideas?

If you mean you want to try to install Thunderbird on both machines for same email accounts, then i am not sure. But if you mean that once the emails are downloaded then you cant access on other machines at all, i.e. them getting deleted from server, then thats quite easy to sort out. Just go to account setting and tick appropriate boxes.

Haven't experienced anything like that. Don't know what it may be either

I used to happen for me on Firefox when i had Kaspersky security, but since i had Norton, things are fine.
