The Expandables: yet more casting announcements!

Simon Brew

It’s already boasting a dream team of Hollywood acting talent. But Sylvester Stallone’s The Expendables has found room for some more new faces…

Published on Mar 12, 2009

Here's the score right now on what's fast become one of our most looked forward to films currently in production. Behind the camera is Sylvester Stallone, as writer/director. He's also in front of it too, along with Jet Li, Dolph Lungdren, Jason Statham, Mickey Rourke, Randy Couture, Forest Whitaker, Danny Trejo and Eric Roberts. Plus there's also a cameo from Arnold Schwarzenegger in there too. Apparently, Jean Claude Van Damme turned Stallone down. Bah.

This motley crew - a dream team, surely, of 80s and contemporary action cinema - will make up the team of mercenaries who band together on a mission to overthrow a South American dictator. And they're now more fresh faces in their number.

Just added to the cast now are Charisma Carpenter, and the former WWE star ‘Stone Cold' Steve Austin, although as of yet their roles are unclear. Truthfully, right now, we don't care, as we could happily report on Expendables casting announcements if they carry on in this vein for the rest of time...

The film is out in 2010. We will be there.

feck me what a cast.

And more importantly - Dolph's back!

Sounds awesome. I thought my dream of Sly and Arnie in the same film would never happen!

Shame about Van Damme though. Need Seagal in there.

Sly and Arnie in the same movie!!!!

I just wish Arnie was actually in it properly, but obviously that would be a bit hard. But just imagine the two of them teamed up, or perhaps better yet, against each other in the ultimate showdown.

I didn't think any film could do it, but this has actually managed to top Last of the Airbenders as the worst film I've ever seen. Everyone in the cinema was actually laughing at how cringe worthy it was.

Well, in another comic turn, you managed to bump the wrong thread. Nicely done.

Totally action packed. Love that about it. If you want more or less mindless action then this is the best you'll get
