The Cricket Pavilion thread

Have the West Indies qualified this year?

I heard they've won the Ashes every year since they beat the Dallas Cowboys in 1978.

I hope to pay some interest. The Ashes is something that I can't not at least check scores on.

Should be interesting this year. Two middling teams with not much to choose between them. Pity so little is left of the two great teams that played that epic series in 2005.

The Aussieness of the Aussies should see them through in the end would be my bet. I'm not going to be putting my house down on it though.

England squad: Andrew Strauss (captain), Alastair Cook, Ravi Bopara, Kevin Pietersen, Paul Collingwood, Matt Prior, Andrew Flintoff, Stuart Broad, Graeme Swann, Jimmy Anderson, Monty Panesar, Ian Bell, Graham Onions.

I would have liked to see Harminson in the squad.

Is this the thread for the Ashes or have I missed something?

Totally agree. Nasser Hussain always says that as a captain, you think to yourself "who would their batsmen least like to be facing?". In this case, surely Harmison would be one.

Really looking forward to the series actually. It's too close to call for me.

cannot see any reason for this pavilion for yet another test match series between England and Australia

England usually win Ashes once in 17 or 19 years yet their fans go ballistic once every two years only get thrashed every time.

It's ridiculous. An international tournament I would understand, but one series between two teams? It could all be done in one thread - Wimbledon was. Or at least it could've been made into a sub forum in the Other Sports section.

Never in all my life seen so many fecking hilarious surnames - take yer pick
