I mentioned this in The Wire thread but I thought it deserved one of its own. Has anyone been watching The Corner? It's adapted from a book written by the creator of The Wire. Quite similar in that it is set in Baltimore and about drugs and life in the ghetto. Stylistically quite different because it is loosely structured as a documentary. The stories are nowhere near as sophisticated but it concentrates more on exploring the worlds of the various people in it. Ive only seen the first three but it seems to vary who the main focus of each episode is.
As I was watching it this evening I was reminded of a comment Spoons made in another thread when talking about Requiem For A Dream - that it was addiction for thickos. Well, I think the portrayal of addiction in The Corner is very good.
Anyway, I think any Wire fans should check it out, I'm enjoying it.
