I only bought one game this year, the Wii version of Okami. I'm not sure if it counts as a new game but if so i nominate it for best game of 2008, best adventure and most surprisingly good game.

Again, COD 4 (and Fifa 08) are not 2008 games mate. GTA IV would be more action I would say.

Gears of War 2 would have won best game and best online game, but the multiplayer matchmaking has pissed me off no end...once they finally fecking fix it, it will be worthy.

No strategy game category? Even the consoles are starting to have strategy games now, so I reckon it should be in. And what do you mean by an "online" game? That could sound like an MMORPG, but I doubt that's what you mean.

Also, where would you put a game such as Fallout 3? I can't see any FPS category, so it could feasibly be in RPG (though it's RPG features are watered out), action and adventure.

It should have gone something like this:

First, state what machines you play games on:

PS3:
XB360:
Wii:
PC:

(We'll leave handhelds out of it)

You then do what you have done.

Then you do the same but more simple for each format.

eg.

PS3 GOTY:
PS3 Best Graphics:
PS3 Best Sound:
PS3 Best Budget Downloadable Game:
PS3 Best Downloadable Game:

...

From that you could sort out some sort of scoring system that allows you to extrapolate the main catagories, but you didn't really think before you posted did you? I've been thinking about making this thread for a month and how it could be best done.

Unless you mean the PC version for AC and the Mac version for CoD4, which I doubt are very much different from the original game.

Actually I have thought about it, and have come to the conclusion that there would be too many categories, best keep it simple. No one else seems to be complaining either.
