The Caf should have some regular writers.

Expand the place beyond it being a forum alone.

When some of you choose not to act like complete idiots are are serious, sensible, there is some decent knowledge on here.

Of course it can depend on the region or league but that's fine. If there were volunteers, one person could write an article or small opinion piece to cover a respectiveleague, country or region. The frequency of them to be determined, weekly, fortnightly, monthly, whatever.

These could be posted to a page here or on an LJ, or both.

What do you think? A goer?

Good idea...

There are some good writers out there. One who springs to mind is Hectic. I always enjoy what he has to say but there are a lot more.

It was a web site first and then a site and a forum for years. The forum only is a fairly recent development due to the huge time demands the previous format placed on Niall.

There is a plan to get mass participation in the site going which may well be revealed soon.

It will never be "finished" so maybe we should just unleash the hounds from hell?

I'd love it if Mr.MUJAC had a regular Academy column. That guy is quite a resource. Go on, mods. Make it happen.

Not until I do that which is my biggest contribution, just to drive blythy completely and totally fecking mad.

My life's ambition is to finally see him crack and just sit in the corner blathering about 'Torres signs'.

Hm, i think i might remember some of when it was a site, when i first used to come here though to be honest, it's not all that clear in the mind. lol

I suppose there are hints remaining to this day, the archive for instance.

If management of such a scheme is an issue, you could setup a RedCafe account at a blog/journal community site, restrict poting to the journal to authors/writers.

Might be an easier way of going about it. *shrugs* Just thinking aloud.

Quick trip down memory lane, the Caf as it was in 2002 >> http://web.archive.org/web/20020605222107/www.redcafe.net/home/

I'd write if there was a call for it.

I call for you to write.....

There is already that 'Tom' poster (I think that's his name) who pops up every so often and writes some good old stuff.. am sure there are a few others on here.. maybe a special fans article section is needed!

New forum!

The trouble is, not many of us can actually right.

One thing that is quite silly is when someone post a big post people start "quality post" and things just because it's ... big. The only thing worth reading if we're going to have a writer is facts. People are always going to have their own opinion and no one can be fully objective, and trying will just look rediculous. I would like to read things about the past. Someone with a lot of years in the bag can write about a game or their first time at old trafford etc. That's worth so much more than just a match review of a game we have all just been watching. Another alternative could be a full review of a month containing only facts.

Sports journalism, in particular writing articles about football, covers a vast range of categories. I would be interested in writing articles about different things, although match reports could easily be done by everybody, they aren't the sole source of footballing material.

I dunno, I don't think you're stupid enough. Feel free to prove me wrong with 2000 words on "How to replace Ferguson"

You'll see when this gets going that it isn't about match reports and such.

It is about history and things like that - to acclimatise people with MUFC and more.

Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. We want to read stuff like history. Not a story about Evra unless it's real deep digging in his childhood or early stages of his career, which I doubt anyone is capable of pulling off for obvious reasons. Give us stories about the good old days, how people got together at the pub etc. And on top of this it has to have some sort of lyrical quality. I am all for it, but I'm not a writer.

Can we have an erotic fiction section too? We know there are fans on the caf, and I've always hoped for a website that would accept and publish my 10,000 page epic 'Big Trouble in Little Vagina'

Jeff Spicer's just re-registered after seeing this thread.

Welcome back Jeff.

One of the problems would be that 'writers' that some Cafe-members would choose are probably on the ignore list of others (or bloody close to it).

It is on its way.

Of course if we can get Patrice himself (I Love Patrice™) to write about having Frank Lampard apply suction to his vagina, we would obviously go with that.
