IMO the biggest shock ever in the history of any sport was in last years Cricket World Cup when Ireland beat Pakistan.

Ireland have no history in the game, would not be in our Top 15 Sports in the Country yet Ireland beat one of the biggest Cricketing nations in the World.

What do youse think - ANy other shocks that have come bigger.




And don't mention Barnsey V Liverpool or anything to do with Liverpool.
 
Doesn't count as one day cricket ain't proper cricket and it was probably rigged by the corrupt sub continental bookies anyway. All one day games involving India and pakistan have to be viewed as very suspect, especially the recent series in Oz. ;)
 
Half that Irish team were born in Australia!

It was a big shock though but I don't know about it being the biggest.

I got bowled out by my little brother once, bowling underarm, was pretty shocking at the time.

Not true. Main backbone of that team were Irish, O'Brien, McCallen, Boyd,
 
Nepal beat Mongolia in goat chucking which is, quite frankly unheard of.

I think thats a bit unfair to say, both India and Pakistan have had a past to do with such illegal mis-doings but i doubt aussies would take money with their passion for the game.
 
Well, I got one...

Faore Islands vs. Austria 12th September 1990.

Faroe Islands had never participated in any official tournament before this match, while Austria were fresh out of the 1990 World Cup in Italy.
The Austrian team were mocking the Faroese in the papers, and went to Copenhagen the night before their match with us, to watch Denmark play somebody.
We beat them 1-0. We played our home games in Landskrona in Sweden, because we didn't have a good enough grass pitch in the nation.

Biggest upset ever in the world of sports.
