Cheers, I'm trying to download the office but the torrents don't seem to work, have you got any tips?
Check your settings and make sure you have an open port in the firewall. The good thing with Utorrent is that it automatically finds a port for you so you don't have to bother with changing stuff in the settings.
How long would you expect a 1.5 GB file to take?
That's impossible to say, it depends on how many seeds and peers there are and your internet speed and the other guys internet speed etc...
uTorrent ... I've had no problems with it. To make things easier, I would try to get into a private site that hosts their own torrents. This limits the amount of leechers and the seeders are more willing to seed longer because they trust the others on their site to seed as well.

i use a program called BitTornado, its very simple, and i get speeds of up to 250kbps, and i'm on a 2mb internet line. if you find your torrent speeds are low no matter what program you use, it maybe a problem with your ports. i used this guide to help me -

Ok, Try searching at http://btjunkie.org/, there's a torrent there with about 50 seeds and 80 peers I can't link it because I don't think it's allowed. If that one doesn't work then there's something wrong with your software.

μTorrent is the best. Bitcomet is very good but it had some problems with certain trackers, if they fixed those then you can use that too.

I use Bitlord simply because it's the first one i came across. Is there really that much difference, out of interest?
I used to think azureus but they've added loads of extra shite which makes it rape the CPU, so i'd say bitcomet now.
