The best PC games going around

Bioshock, CoD4, Crysis. Orange Box, perhaps. Portal is short - enjoyable, but not worth a standalone purchase (comes with orange box) - it does require steam though.

I could recommend others, but I think those are probably the better ones of the bunch.

However, Crysis singleplayer is too short, and multiplayer doesn't seem to have taken off.

Aside from that, I've not really looked at anything and thought "Wow" lately.

GTR 2 is the best racing game on PC.

Yeah EU:Rome looks interesting

Was a bit disappointed with EUIII, didn't quite grab me as EUII did

I wish Paradox would make a new Victoria that was a bit more playable, but still not as simplified as EUIII. I like EUIII:NA, especially with the Magna Mundi mod, but it's a bit buggy at times and the AI isn't perfect.

I have high hopes for Rome though.

Time Shift, Half Life 2, Call Of Duty 4, Bioshock, Warcraft 3, Assassin's Creed, Fallout 2, Medieval Total War 2, Age Of Empires 2, Starcraft, Stalker, Guitar Hero 3, Crysis, Colin McRae: Dirt...

Hadn't picked up the NA expansion but heard it fixed a lot of my main gripes with the original. I'll check it out.

Great, hope you enjoy it.

Make sure you set the difficulty properly, the highest one isn't ridiculously difficult, but the lower ones are stupidly easy.

And the multiplayer is the big seller for CoD4, it's definitely the best bit, even though the singleplayer is excellent as a standalone.

I got NA basically at the same time, but I think it's worth it as it adds quite a lot of feats and speeds up the game noticably (especially start up times). Historical rulers/leaders/advisors is great. To me there's nothing like conquering those uncivilised Danes and Noggies with Gustavus Adolphus. :D

Yeah that's what I loved about EU 2, running all over Europe with Karl XII and crushing everything was very satisfying.

"How's it spelled?"

"ø"

<BAM!>

"How's it spelled?"

:D

it's great unless Russia (especially under Peter the Greats rule) has it in for you, then you're basically fecked! I never played EUII though. Fell in love with Paradox titles through HOI2. I love the level of detail and historical accuracy in their titles, which for a computer game is pretty amazing. If you add the Magna Mundi mod you get quite a lot of historical events added which, as I understand it, were present in EU2, just like in Victoria and HOI. Only downside is that it won't work with historical rulers etc turned on.
