I'm listening to the American Beauty OST (Thomas Newman) right now, and I have to say it's one of the best for me. The other ones are

Braveheart
The Big Blue
K-Pax

I loved '28 days/weeks after' as well

do you know any similar to the mentioned ones?

Gladiator was actually quite moving.
The Spiderman main theme is very good as is the Day After Tomorrow's.

The Mission has great instrumental music

I suppose you had 'Hymn to the sea' on your mind, with the bagpipes (it was written by James Horner, as the Braveheart soundtrack). It's great, but I didn't want to mention Titanic in order not to sound gay :D

yeah that was the music bit i was refering to.... how about he's a pirate from POC...

Vangelis - 1492: Conquest of Paradise

Another great Vangelis soundtrack, my personal favorite.

Last of the Mohicans

This commercial was for Nike, but directed by Michael Mann(director of last of the mohicans) to one of the best songs on the soundtrack

Any Ennio Morricone, but The Good, The Bad and The Ugly and Once Upon a Time in the West stand out.

My Father in law recently died, this was his favorite tune, we had it played at the funeral as we were carrying in the coffin.

By the way are we talking original sound tracks or added music, like American Graffiti or most of Tarantino's stuff?

My top three:

1) 'Jaws' - Williams
2) 'James Bond Theme' - Barry
3) 'Godfather Waltz' - Rota
4) 'Cinema Paradiso' - Morricone
5) Star Wars' - Williams

never mind, just as long as they're instrumentals, and I prefer whole soundtracks, not just one theme. I'm not saying they're not good, it's just that I want to listen to something new, and I don't want to listen to separate themes from different soundtracks

"The Insider" Excellent soundtrack. Lisa Gerrard and Pieter Bourke.

"The Whale Rider"

yes, Jaws is really good

It's unbelievably good!

Never really paid it much attention before; thought it gimmicky. Until a couple of years ago I bought myself Williams double CD. Listening to it in the car down the M1, it struck me how original, inventive and simply amazing a piece of music it was.
