Team Skizzo
Batting
Opening the match for us is a pair of top level openers,
Chris Gayle and
Sanath Jayasuriya. Between the pair of them, they have notched fifty 100's, and over one hundred 50's, posting high scores of 215 and 189. Capable of putting up huge numbers early, and both have done so in England, they could get us off to a solid start here with building a foundation going forward. Following them, we have
Jonathan Trott, one of only six batsmen to hit over 2500 runs in ODI, while averaging over 50. A talented batsman, he performed well coming in at one down through large parts of his career. He will look to either add to a commanding lead that the openers have built, or look to steady the ship if one falls early, while still being able to keep the scoreboard ticking. Following in fourth is
Inzamam-ul-Haq, Pakistani's leading run scorer in ODI's, and another big hitter who can keep piling on the misery for opposition bowlers. Fifth up is
Kevin O'Brien, a genuine all rounder, who gives us some additional, aggressive middle order batting. Sixth batsman up is South African
Lance Klusener, a tremendous hitter, who will keep the runs coming deep down the order. Next up is wicket keeper
Rod Marsh, the quick footed, acrobatic Australian will pair his work behind the stumps, with a powerful bat to add runs at a rapid rate. The tail end of the batting order includes
Shaun Pollock, who has a century, and a handful of 50's to his name, to do some late damage if he is needed.
Bowling
Mentioned first of all is (arguably) the best spin bowler in ODI's,
Muttiah Muralitharan. He'll be joined now in the bowling attack by
Shaun Pollock, his pace and ability will help tremendously and not leave our bowling unit to be spread too thin.
Craig McDermott was the spearhead of the Australian pace attack in the late 80's/early 90's.
Tim Southee has established himself as part of the New Zealand opening bowling attack, and his meticulous accuracy and well disguised variations have allowed him to develop into a genuine pace threat.
Lance Klusener, Chris Gayle, Jayasuriya, and O'Brien will split overs as needed. Stats are below, and more info will be provided as needed during the match thread.

Why I believe we will win
The biggest issue our team had last match was a lack of depth in the batting, and a potential for not enough strike bowlers and pace in the line up. With the addition of
Pollock and Klusener, we solve both of those issues. We have batting down through number 8, with all but one having at least 1 century to their name. If our openers start the match on fire, they have the ability to put up a crushing score, and we have stroke players and heavy bats through the rest of the line up to settle the team if an early wicket falls, and to keep the runs ticking towards the end if we need to keep adding to the scoreboard.
The bowling unit now has a better balance, with Pollock and Mcdermott able to lead the charge. Murali is the leading wicket taker in ODI cricket, and even with Tim Southee coming in, we still have another 4 potential bowlers to keep people fresh, and all who have 4+ wicket games. With the opposition needing to chase a potential high score, having a consistent stream of capable bowlers on the attack will make that job too difficult to overcome.
Lastly, how could you not count on the luck of the Irish with Kevin O'Brien in the team. The only Irish player in the draft, and starting in a big match. He has one of the best ODI performances by a player to his name, and he's in good company here.
Good luck KM!
