The £100million Merry-Go-Round

THe daily star, being the fountain of reliable information that it is, has run a story, which sky sports news has picked up about this £100mill transfer swap deal.

Listen to this bollocks: Veron to Lazio - Nesta from Lazio to Juventus - Thuram from Juventus to us.

What a crock of shit,

1. How often do you see straight swap deals for players
2. It estimates that Thuram's value is around £33mill - for a 30yr old, i think not

Basically, some idol reporter @ the star was sitting on his arse and thought, hey why not write a bunch of bollocks.

I couldn't agree more. Besides this world cup proved Thruam is past it. In my opinion anyway. ;)

Seems like it's going to run for a while, Sky Sports have picked up on it.
But I can't see what good it would do us in the long term - trading Veron (a player at his peak) and getting Thuram (a player probably past his peak). I'd much rather see us go straight for Nesta.
The only benefit I can see in it is that we will get a defender for nothing and lose a player who, though a luxury, is probably one we can live without. That would leave more money for another defender and strengthening elsewhere...

why go thru all that to get LT when if a defender is the target get nesta direct. plus i'd agree w/ 30m for nesta and veron but thuram? even in todays market.
